Would it make things easier or harder for him to travel with potions, charms and spells to help him along the way? Also the Legendaries seem interested in him because he was touched by Death themselves... And they don't like sharing. Oh dear! So much for a peaceful afterlife.

Death's blessing

Death hummed as they watched their first child leave the small town that he called home. The Ghost Pokemon knew about them favouring the child and they would try their best to help him out. Even the Ghost Dragon type Lord seemed to have heard about it and looked forward to meeting their child when he visits Sinnoh. Death hummed as he watched over the world, he had seen many versions of it as the world was born, grew old, died and got reborn again. It was an endless cycle of life and death following each other in an undisturbed manner. Now if only the other worlds would be just as good as this one, they wouldn't have the headache of clearing so many paperwork on so many souls being harvested to be reborn. They had even shown themselves to young Gary and curiously enough, the little one did not seem afraid of him.

Flashback:

Gary had decided to have one last sleepover with his best friend, just the two of them, before they would have to go on a journey the next few days. He was going to miss their soft beds and comfy rooms a lot but they had been waiting to travel for a long time and couldn't wait for the day after tomorrow and at the same time be a bit nervous about it. Ash came in after finishing his shower and Gary helped him dry his long hair.

Gary, "Your hair has reached your waist, Ashy."

Ash leaned against Gary as his fingers massaged his scalp, "Mnn, I know, I was thinking of plaiting it while being on the road."

Gary, "That would be practical, and keep your hair from getting messed up and tangled due to travel."

Ash hmmed, "I wonder, if we'll run into either Entei or Moltress again during our journey. It would be amazing if we did, I want to show them what we can do now."

Gary nodded as Ash sat up turning towards him, "I know what you mean Ashy, we have come a long way from then."

Ash giggles, "We can use fire type attacks, although they are not as strong as Pokemon attacks they are still strong enough to knock humans out."

Gary chuckled, "Yeah and Gramps sure had a ball of a time in releasing all of the new potions into the market. The gill potion was probably the best seller as we got not only the water type trainers but also the navy interested in it..... I didn't even know Kanto had a navy of her own."

Ash smiled laying down on the large bed, "I know right? It was a real shocker to find out, and it's been three years but I still can't get over the fact."

Gary lay next to Ash on the bed, "As long as it helps them I guess, we should go to sleep. Everyone is out like a light."

Ash saw their Pokemon were asleep and stretched a bit to put off the light, "Want to meditate first?"

Gary held Ash's hand, "Sure ~"

The two boys closed their eyes and entered their soul rooms, they were now able to meet each other in a third point without entering the others soul rooms. It had become a hall way of sorts that connected the two of them as well as a number of other doors. They never tried or bothered to enter the other doors as they were all locked tight and couldn't help but wonder if they were the doors that would connect them with their friends. As they met each other, they were joined by a third person that made Gary look at them curiously.

Ash brightened, "Death! You came to visit."

Death rumbled, "Yes, you have come a long way, my sweet child."

Gary watched them, "Who is this Ash?"

Ash smiled bright like the sun, "Gary this is Death like the Death, the one who will guide your soul to safety and home I guess after you pass away."

Gary's eyes widened in surprise, "Nice to meet you Mr Death. A friend of Ash is a friend of mine."

Death was amused, "You are not afraid of me child? How curious, most of the others in this world are terrified by my mere presence."

Gary shrugged, "Ash trusts you, so I guess I do too, also I really can't explain it but for some reason I feel safe. Is that weird?"

Death, "No, I suppose all things come it is not that strange."

Ash smiled, "Death, I wanted to thank you for the books you left us."

Death, "I'm happy you love them."

Gary looked between them getting an idea, "Books?..... Oh! Oh! It was you, wasn't it? You helped us find them, thank you very much. They really helped out many people and probably saved our brother's lives more than we could count."

Death pat Gary's head when he hugged them, amused and pleased by how this meeting was turning out. He had a feeling not everyone would react ecstatically to seeing him all the time. *cough* Arcobaleno meeting *cough* The two boys spent the next two hours telling death about the Skele Gro, blood replenisher, anti paralysis potion and many more items they had made. Death enjoyed their time with the two young bright souls in front of them before getting up.

Death, "Time for bed, my sweet children."

Ash pouted, "But we are barely able to talk because you have your job and responsibilities, which are like very important. And I... We don't know when you can visit us again."

Gary nodded, "Yeah, you are a really cool adult too, our parents and grandparents tend to baby us. Other adults look at us like we are a treasure of some sort. We cannot talk to them like we can talk to you and why can't we visit you though?"

Death hmmed, "Visiting me would mean you are dead."

Gary, "Oh yeah, he he he he he! Never mind."

Ash huffed, "That's true! I really wish we could though. You are family to me Death, although many would call me crazy for considering it."

Gary laughed, "We would be locked up in the mental institution if anyone found out about this."

Death, "I have a blessing I wish to give you children."

Ash perked up, "Oh, what is it?"

Gary looked curious as well, "What sort of blessing?"

Death touched Ash's forehead before touching Gary's, "That should help you with learning other elements, you will just require conduits to help you. But even then once you truly learned something you won't need to depend on the conduit for long."

Ash, "So we will not have to always carry the crystal or the wing?"

Gary, "That's good though right? I heard about how they were highly coveted. We can hide the wing and the crystal somewhere instead."

Death hummed softly as they nuzzled the two of them and guided the young boys out of their inner worlds to sleep. Death watched over their inner selves as they slept peacefully before leaving for the outside world where the two were sleeping cuddled by their Pokemon. The young Pikachu, Eevee, Charmander and Litten were used to their presence it seems unlike the rest of the Pokemon in the house who they could hear running towards the room. Death chuckled as they phased through the walls to leave as the two canine Pokemons and the barrier Pokemon entered the room.

Pikachu woke up tilting his head, -Huh? Lucario?-

Eevee yawned, -Arcanine? Mr Mime? What's going on?-

Arcanine, -We felt a presence little one.-

Charmander woke up at that, -Eh? But there was no one here.-

Litten, -We would have known.-

Lucario, -I have not felt this presence in a long time.-

Death snorted at the little chaos he had left behind as they left. On the way they met Gengar who looked at them in reverence and they nodded at the Ghost type. Gengar still had a bit of a hard time believing the Lord Death was visiting Pallet town despite it not being a Ghost town. But believe he did as he watched the Ethereal being leave the town he called home. The other Ghost Pokemon who lived in the ranch or were new to the ranch considered themselves lucky to be there and asked the veteran Gengar many questions. The prankster Pokemon answered their questions as much as he could before saying he didn't know why the Lord was there but he did know the child was Chosen by Lord Death for a reason.

Flashback end!

Death rumbled in amusement as they watched the world as it moved on it's axis. There were some interesting times ahead for his child, no children now, they had decided to accept Gary as one of theirs. They wondered how the other creatures and humans would react feeling their presence.

Life joined Death, "Ah, you are observing your first child."

Time, "Isn't that the world that has beings blessed with our powers?"

Death rumbled, "Yes it is, it is quiet lovely, isn't it?"

Time, "It's one of the few worlds that has it's own system and it barely needs us or anyone else really to interfere with them."

Life's eyes twinkled, "Indeed, my sweet little Mew did their jobs well, didn't they?"

Death watched as the little psychic cat flew after Ash invisible, "The little ones adore my children."

Time, "I wonder how things will turn out this time."

Death, "Who knows? We have watched some interest versions of the world before so it's safe to say the future will be quite fascinating."

The three beings stood next to each other as they gazed upon the world below wondering how things would play out this time. Life remembers a few of the cycles where Mew had chosen Ash who was not Death's chosen be their Chosen One. It was a hot mess, no matter what gender Ash was born let it be male or female, that's all they could say about it with all the other Legendaries turning to the one child who was only supposed to represent Mew to solve their problems. Ash, bless their kind soul even though in those timelines he or she didn't have Death or anyone to guide them, they still helped the world out. But lived a lonely life, where they instinctively kept any one who was interested in them as a partner at arm's length. It had made little Mew feel very guilty and the little one tried to take their blessings back. However unfortunately blessings are blessings for a reason and cannot be retracted. Red had a slightly easier life than Ash, when he was born in the next few timelines, what with his obssessive rival always sticking to him no matter what.

Time, "You are lost in thought."

Life, "Just remembering a few of the past timelines."

Death, "Fascinating, isn't it?"

Time chuckled agreeing, even they could not predict the future only time will tell them what will happen, pun fully intended. Life announced they needed to get to work soon, there were a new batch of souls ready to be reborn. Time left after a while as well to make sure Chaos and Order didn't bother Life much when they were fulfilling their duties. Death watched amused as Time left grumbling about unruly siblings and how they were supposed to be older and mature now, instead of acting bratty. Death gave one last glance at the world before leaving for another dimension where an idiot decided the best way to clean the world was creating a virus and letting it loose. Humans never cease to amaze, amuse and flabbergast them.
