Pallet town
Life went on as it usually did once everyone returned home. Ash and Gary attended their daily classes, Red joined Riley in Aura training, Green became an apprentice to Sabrina and Professor Oak decided to just go with the flow of craziness that came with the two youngest. The Pokemon at the Oak ranch were very delighted to have their two favourite human kids back with them, especially a certain Blue Oak's Gengar. Blue was surprised at first, but then was actually happy as Gengar was no longer isolating himself anymore. The Ghost type had not been the same ever since their clash with Team Rocket that many years ago. The good Professor had also decided to follow the old tradition.
Samuel welcomed the four boys to his lab, "Welcome kids, I'm glad you made it."
Red smiled, "I had to bring Ash Professor. I hope you don't mind, but Mom's busy and Dad's been called back to work again."
Samuel waved it off, "It's fine, it's fine ~ You don't need to apologize. Ash is welcome here anytime just like Gary. In fact the Pokemon here are actually always happy to see them."
Samuel turned to the younger two, "Why don't you boys go greet them? Blue's Gengar returned last night I'm sure he'll be happy to see you."
Ash beamed, "We are happy to see him too."
Gary grinned, "Dad's Gengar tells the best stories."
The Professor let them outside before turning to the older boys, "Now, I called you and Green here for a specific reason."
Green looked curious, "What's up, Gramps?"
Samuel cleared his throat, "As you know, it is tradition for regional Professors to give away starters to the prospective trainers."
Green nodded, "We know that Gramps and are you saying what I think you are saying?"
Samuel nodded, "Yes, I want to give you two boys your starters. I know you already have Pokemon with you but as your regional Professor, I wish to give you your own starters."
Red grinned, "Sweet! Thanks Professor! Wait, what about the other trainers?"
Samuel laughed, "Don't worry, for once I got five starters ready. So, even if two get chosen, there are still three left."
Green smirked, "You had this planned from the start, didn't ya, Gramps?"
Samuel looked away embarrassed, "I have no idea what you are talking about."
Red drawled like one of the people he read in the old books the four of them had taken turns in trying to understand, "Of course not! But somehow, you have the permission to give out five starters, instead of three. Indeed, nothing much to worry about."
Samuel cleared his throat while motioning at the auto holder with the five pokeballs, "Now, as you know the starters are usually a fire type - Charmander, a water type - Squirtle and a grass type - Bulbasaur. This year though I have two more added, an electric type - Pichu and a fighting type Tyrogue."
Green whistled, "Damn gramps! Gotta say, that's pretty cool, adding a fighting and electric type."
Red agreed, "That's a decent team right there. They are well balanced."
Samuel laughed, "So you two get the first pick. Make your choice."
Green smirked, "Why don't you choose first Red? You look excited."
Red smiled sheepishly, "That obvious, huh? Give me a sec, I want to try something."
The two Oaks watched as he closed his eyes and concentrated a bit and his hand started to glow a faint blue light. The older Oak took out a notebook, which Green was pretty sure was not present earlier, and started to take notes. Red meanwhile stepped forward to the pokeballs in front of him and held his hand above them. One of the pokeballs started to move a bit before Red picked it up smiling.
Red grinned, "This one, Professor. He answered to my aura above the other four."
Samuel put his book down, "I see. I suppose you will from here on be choosing Pokemon that are in tune with your aura then?"
Red nodded, "Yes, that's my plan. I plan to teach them to use their own aura as well."
Samuel nodded interested, "I see. Green your turn."
Green moved forward his eyes were locked on one pokeball from the start, "I know what I want Gramps and it's her."
Samuel raised his eyebrow, "You could tell without checking?"
Green smirked, "Psychic in training!"
Samuel laughed, "Well, I guess this means you will do what Red will do. I only have one request, will you both send me reports on the progress of your Pokemon. I'll be honest I'm truly interested in how different they will turn out."
Green nodded, "You got it Gramps. We will be going now, just need to tell Ash and Gary."
Red and Green went out to the field where Ash and Gary were playing with the grass and normal types. Gengar was watching them, from the shade of a tree, with a very rare peaceful look on his face. Red blinked then shook his head before calling the two over. Ash and Gary awwed, knowing their brothers were leaving soon, before giving the two of them two gifts.
Red opened his gift, "What's this?"
Green held out his as well, "Never saw these before."
Ash mumbled, "Those are Mew's fossils."
Samuel looked at the two bones carefully, "Truly?"
Gary nodded, "Mew did not want any more weird humans taking them and using them for weird experiments so they gave them to us."
Green hummed, "Why are you giving them to the two of us?"
Ash looked serious when he looked up, "Mew told us as long as we have those they can find us. If we are in trouble we just need to put some of our powers into it and they can find us easily."
Red frowned, "But isn't this for you though?"
Gary assured him, "We talked to them about this and do you know what they told us Red? Green?"
Green looked at bit disturbed, why Samuel could not tell, "What did they say exactly?"
Ash responded softly, "They told us that you and big brother were their Chosen warriors. Do you know what that means? It means no matter what you do, the moment you leave Pallet, you will start running into dangerous situations and encounters."
Samuel was blank faced, 'Oh dear....'
Red hugged Ash as he seemed ready to cry, "I see, don't worry. I'll keep it close and I promise I will.... We will both be safe."
Green nodded at Red as he hugged his own brother, "Yeah baby bro. Don't worry about us, big brothers, okay. We got Mew watching our backs, so we will be safe and we promise to come back to you."
Samuel, "I need to make a call. I'll give you boys privacy."
Green nodded, "Thanks gramps!"
Gary's smile was a little watery, "I'll hold you to that promise. I know, I cannot stop you from going. It's your life after all, but you better come back safe, okay. Or I will.... I will.. Umm... I will ask Entei and Mew to find you and hurt those who are keeping you from me.... Us."
Ash burrowed himself in Red's neck, "I know, we sound possessive and unreasonable big brother, but we can't help it. We love you and we will miss you a lot."
Red smiled happy yet sad, "We love you too, and we will miss you a lot as well everyday. Do not ever doubt that, you hear me."
Green nodded with Red, "The same goes for you Gary. Do not even think for a second I will forget about you. In fact tell you what, every new place we go to, every new Pokemon we get and any new person we meet. We will send you letters and photos of them yeah? So don't cry baby bro. Please!"
Ash looked up at his big brother and soul half, "Yes, I hear you."
Ash let go sniffling a bit only for Red to gently wipe his tears making Ash smile at him, 'Though I doubt you will understand the real reason, my soul half. You may not be my soul mate, big brother, but you are very important to me anyways.'
Gary let go as well feeling better, "You know those are two promises, I'm holding you to."
Ash smiled, "And you don't have to worry about us. Gary and I, we don't plan to go anywhere till we turn twelve at least. We want to finish translating the books and make those interesting potions. Did you know there is a potion that can regrow damaged organs? I want the two of us to be able to make that first before going anywhere. It may take a few years though."
Red blinked, "That sounds really useful to have."
Green, "Guess you are planning on becoming Potion Masters, huh baby bro?"
Gary shook his head, "I want to become an herbalist and a fighter. It's Ash who wants to be a Potion maker and healer. I'll learn too, of course, but not as deeply as Ash will."
Red smiled, "Anyway want to meet the newest members?"
Ash and Gary grinned as Red and Green released their older Pokemon before releasing the new ones. The two new turned out to be a Squirtle from Green and a Charmander from Red. Ash's Charmander tackle hugged the new one screaming something about new playmate much to his shock. Snivy pulled the excited Charmander off and welcomed his new partner. Kadavra and Fennekin here also welcoming their new teammate Squirtle. Red and Green were both very pleased to note the Pokemon were getting along well with each other. The four of them decided to spend the few hours, before their respective tutors came to pick up Red and Green, together. Sabrina and Riley walked up to the group after a few hours.
Sabrina, "Ready to go, my student?"
Green got up, "Ready as I'll ever be. Lead the way teacher."
Riley smiled, "Shall we?"
Red grinned, "Bring it on!"
Lucario, -Green, I talked with Sabrina, and we came to an agreement. At the end of every month I'll be teaching you and Red physical combat. No Aura or Psychic energy involved.-
Sabrina nodded, "Alakazam prepare to teleport. Green, I want Kadavra and you to be able to track us down. Yes we are starting your lessons from now."
Riley turned to Red, "We'll be training on the road starting with Aura sight."
Samuel, "Good luck kids. Do your best."
Green smiled, "Thanks Grandpa."
Green hugged Gary, "Time to go baby bro. I promise I'll send photos and letters as well as call whenever I can."
Gary smiled, "I'll be waiting."
Red hugged Ash, "We'll come back to visit at the end of the training months before we officially start our journey. Okay!"
Ash smiled, "You better, big brother."
Sabrina teleported after that followed by Green and Kadavra who teleported after Sabrina, Fennekin and Squirtle safe in their balls. Riley, Lucario and Red decided to add aura sight training as they left the lab. Snivy and Charmander joined Riley's Riolu in racing besides them. Physical work out by moving beside the trainer was a natural way to increase stamina and endurance. Ash and Gary watched them leave sad and at the same time happy. Sad, because they were leaving them behind and happy, because they knew their brothers would become stronger and gain new friends.
Gengar comforted them, -Children, I know it's hard but you should know this is not goodbye forever.-
Gary smiled, "We know."
Ash nodded, "And we will be waiting."
Samuel smiled kindly, "Kids how about you help me at the lab today? I can in return over see your homework."
Gary beamed, "Really? Thanks Grandpa ~"
Ash beamed at well, "That would be awesome."
The two boys went with the Professor helping him feed, groom and care for the Pokemon. Even the most grumpiest Pokemon did not seem to mind the grooming they received from them. Samuel half wondered if the Pokemon instinctively knew the two were special and trusted them for that reason. He frowned thinking about the dangers they will be in if the wrong type of groups found out about it. His Dragonite picked up on his worry and nudged him giving him a worried look. Samuel shook his head and mouthed later to his oldest friend besides his starter Charizard, the Dragon Pokemon nodded and left to watch over the vast fields.
