Chapter 31

“Unnie they broke up like a month ago… Why can’t you talk to her??” Yoohyeon complained.

It had been a month from that one night. The same night Siyeon ended things with her girlfriend because she couldn’t handle it anymore.

Minji sat at her desk, glasses on her face as she skimmed through her reports. She was only half listening to Yoohyeon since she was in her lab and entirely focused on the numbers on her screen.

“Unnie!” Yoohyeon shouted.

“Yoohyeon, I can’t just… swoop in,” Minji muttered before taking her glasses off to rub her eyes. “We broke up because we couldn’t trust each other.”

“And you can trust her again!” Yoohyeon groaned.

“I appreciate the whole me and Siyeon are perfect for each other… but I’m working. And if you’re going to just sit in my lab and not ask actual questions about my internship… then I need you to leave…” Minji sighed.

Yoohyeon bit her lip at her friend’s words. She didn’t want to go be with Siyeon and Dong was visiting her family. Which left her alone.

“So… um…” Yoohyeon looked around, pointing at a random machine. “What does that do?” She quickly asked.

Minji shook her head, letting out a sigh. Yoohyeon would do anything just to spend time with her at this point.

Siyeon stared at her phone, seeing the blank thread that was daunting. The little online status was there, bright green and teasing her.

She was in the middle of typing a message when the online status went from online to off causing her to groan and nearly throw her phone. Of course she would sign off when she was in the middle of typing.

When she picked her phone up, she frowned when she saw the half typed message was sent, causing another groan to escape her lips. It was perfect really. Just perfect.

She felt her phone buzz, allowing her to look at the message thread again.

Minjiuu~: Assuming this wasn’t a mistake… But I’ve been thinking a lot about you too.

Siyeon’s out a sigh of relief. Even her half typed message came out perfect. Or rather, perfect enough.

_singsing_: it wasn’t a mistake. I promise.

Yoohyeon was excited to see Dong again, hurrying through her day before seeing the text she was at her apartment. She couldn’t wait to see her. It had been a few days but a few days too many.

The second she burst through the door she was greeted with the familiar face and she couldn’t help but tackle her into a tight embrace and just love on her.

“You act like I was gone for ages!” Dong laughed.

“Too many days,” Yoohyeon pouted before pulling her in for a deep kiss. “Way too many,” she whispered.

“I'm guessing we have plans this weekend?” Dong smirked.

“Oh yes,” Yoohyeon smiled.

Yoohyeon would’ve never guessed that over the span of a year and a half she would’ve gotten the girl she crushed over. The girl who made her so unbelievably angry she didn’t even consider dating her in a million years.

She was happy though. She couldn’t deny it. No matter what they did she was happy. Over the moon rejoicing, internally, for her own little happy ending.

She just wished Siyeon got the same. She knew the older woman had been going out more, claiming she was going to the library to study. Dong asked if them being home was bothering her study time but Siyeon just claimed it as needing textbooks and more reference materials than anything else.

Except… Siyeon never stayed at the library for long.

“You know… For someone who doesn’t like the sexual… intimate parts of a relationship… you sure like to kiss me everywhere and touch me everywhere.” Minji let out a small groan when she felt Siyeon nip at her neck.

“I didn’t say I don’t like to be a tease…” Siyeon mumbled, earning a small slap to the chest from the older woman who was straddling her lap. “What?” She chuckled.

“You’re just weird,” Minji laughed. “My weirdo,” she whispered before pressing her lips against Siyeon’s again. “Question… so I know you don’t like it… but if I used you to get off…” she muttered.

“I would be uncomfortable.” Siyeon answered.

“Noted,” Minji muttered before standing up.

“Where are you going?” Siyeon frowned while watching her girlfriend walk down the hallway to her bedroom.

“I need to take care of something! I’ll be like five minutes,” Minji called behind her.

Siyeon rolled her eyes, knowing what she was talking about. She looked down at the little white puff ball and immediately gave Cherry her full attention.

It was at least ten minutes before Minji came back out, hurrying to take her spot on Siyeon’s lap, only to find herself replaced with Cherry.

“I see how it is,” Minji sighed.

“She came for cuddles…” Siyeon frowned.

“What about me?” Minji pouted. “I need them too…” She whined.

Siyeon let out a laugh while she nudged Cherry off her lap and onto the cushion next to her. She patted her legs, watching Minji hurry over and reclaim her spot.

“Have fun?” Siyeon whispered.

“Mhm,” Minji sighed. “Would be better with one thing though…” she frowned.

“Minji…”

“What? Am I not allowed to fantasize? And what are we anyway… Are we just friends who make out?” She whispered.

“No… I… I would like to be more than that… if that’s okay…” Siyeon whispered.

Minji stared at Siyeon’s face, taking in the entire emotion that was buried there. The uncertainty of the question hung in the air and Minji couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

“I would like to be your girlfriend again,” Minji whispered. “But promise me… We’ll talk more… Less hiding and secrets.” She pleaded.

“I promise.” Siyeon smiled.

The two couples sat across from one another exactly one month later, and Dong couldn’t help but shift in her seat. The couples, Siyeon and Yoohyeon, had decided to go out for lunch together, ignoring their girlfriends’ pleas not to go.

“Weird how all of this turned out,” she muttered.

“Yeah…” Minji mumbled before resting her entire weight into Siyeon’s side.

Dong saw how Minji held onto Siyeon, looking at her menu rather than her own… Everything was different about her. She finally seemed normal.

“What are you getting” Yoohyeon asked.

“Probably just a burger,” Dong shrugged. “What about you?”

“Maybe the pasta… I’m not sure…” She frowned.

“If you get the salad can I have the croutons?” Siyeon whispered.

“Only if you get this,” Minji pointed at a spot on the menu, and the other couple watched Siyeon visibly gag. “Oh come on.” She laughed.

“I don’t like shrimp!” Siyeon complained.

“You like shrimp flavor. I’ll eat the shrimp,” Minji laughed before poking Siyeon’s cheek. “I’m kidding by the way,” she whispered.

“So do I get your croutons?”

“Yes,” Minji smiled.

Yoohyeon couldn’t help but squeal at the sight. She had been hounding Minji to talk to Siyeon again and she wasn’t sure how it happened but she was happy the two gave it another chance.

“Can you hurry up and pick?” Dong asked Yoohyeon, reminding her she was still deciding.

“Right, right. Sorry,” Yoohyeon giggled. “I think I’m gonna choose the pasta… I keep looking at it,” she sighed before shutting her menu and looking up at Dong. “Just like I keep looking at you,” she whispered.

“Don’t know why… I’m not a star,” Dong winked.

“You are to me,” Yoohyeon smiled. “My star.”
