Chapter 1
Izumi Melacent Midoriya loved training with her mama sense the day she turned four and failed to get a quirk, her mama started her training. It started with her running laps around the neighbourhood with both her mama and her mum. Now though her mum has started to take breaks and never wanted to hold a sword but her mama is one of the best she has ever seen even if she is blind. So here she was practising with her mama while her mum watched on a bench.
“So this is where my beloved sister went.” A small child-like voice says behind Izumi startling her as her mothers sword hits Izumi’s head.
“Izumi are you alright?” Mama says as she bends down to check on her daughter.
“I’m fine mama it’s just thought that I heard someone.” Izumi answers in a confused voice.
“I’m sure it is just your imagination.” her Mama says in a comforting voice.
“Far from it Malenia.” A child says as they walk into the little clearing that Izumi and Mama were using as a place to train while mum rested on the bench.
“Miquella, to whom do I owe a visit from my twin brother.” Her Mama says to the child in front of the two.
“We have something important to discuss and it is not for someone so young.” Her now named Uncle Miquella says.
“Hey, I am the same age as you.” Izumi says to her uncle as he walks closer to her mother.
“Only in appearance, my young niece now mind if I talk to your Mama here.” Her uncle says in a childish tone.
“Alright,” Izumi says as she walks off to tell her mum.
Malenia held her daughter’s practice sword as she ran to her wife Inko, a smile slowly disappearing from her face as she turned to her brother.
“What, not happy to hear your brother’s voice.” Miquella says in his normal childish tone.
“No, it's just why you are here.” Malenia says as she rises to her full height on her prosthetic legs.
“We can talk about that after we head to where you are living with your wife I assume.” Miquella says as he walks next to her.
“Yes, but she is not what you are interested in.” Malenia says as she holds her weapon a bit tighter ready to defend her daughter.
“Correct again dear sister, she has the curse too doesn’t she.” Miquella questions as he raises his child like hands on his sister's sword hand.
“She does but that needle made of unalloyed gold stopped it before it could affect her.” Malenia says her voice is cold as she turns to her twin brother.
“So it does work to halt the sickness, but not cure it. Interesting.” Miquella says in a curious voice.
Before Melania could ask for clarification she was interrupted by her beautiful wife carrying her sweet daughter.
“So we are heading home now.”
“Yes, my lovely wife, we are me and my brother here needs to speak about something important.” Malenia says while moving her head in Miquella’s direction.
On the walk home Malenia could not help but stay between herself and her brother.
When they got to the small apartment that the three shared it was small but one of the few places where she could be open to others.
“Izumi, could you please go to your room for a moment?” Malenia says she asked her daughter who nods her head and heads to the room holding the training sword she was gifted to her daughter on her tenth birthday the day she started training with a sword.
“She is like you in many ways, Dear sister.” Miquella says in a quiet voice.
“I’m sorry to interrupt you two but could we please talk at the table?” Inko says to Malenia and Miquella in a polite tone as she pulls out a chair for their guest to sit in.
“Of course, I went through a long journey to get here.” Miquella says as he moves to the offered seat with Malenia walking close behind him.
When Miquella took his seat his sister moved to sit by her wife.
“So what is this visit about Miquella?” Malenia says as she slips her good hand to her beloved in hopes of Inko taking the hand for good luck.
“I unfortunately carry troubling news from home. Our family is on the brink of going to war with itself over the actions of our parent.” Miquella said in a voice of despair the likes of which Malenia has not heard since she lost her arm to the rot.
“What, why are they going to war with themselves?” Inko questions, a sense of confusion in her voice.
“That’s the worst part, our mother Queen Marika lost our half brother Godwyn’s soul and our half sister Ranni has also disappeared from the face of the planet. So now all of our family has taken the remaining pieces of the Elden Ring and have been getting into arguments about who should succeed our parent in the title of Elden Lord. The only allies I have in the arguments are our half brothers Morgott and Mogh but I do not trust both of them fully and Radahn and the others are preparing their forces to launch a civil war across all the land.” Miquella says his tone is too serious for his childlike appearance.
“So you came all this way to get the only person who could fight Radahn and the others to win this war.” Malenia says her voice in disbelief.
“I’m sorry to break it to you brother but I can’t fight an army on my own. I need troops, artillery, and healers. I can’t fight this alone.”
“I am not asking you to fight alone, there are forces who are gathering at the base of the Haligtree to plead their service to you.” Miquella informs her his voice nearly enters a pleading like tone.
“Wait, why are they going to war over a single ring? If it is that valuable then why not work together to repair it?” Inko asks, confusion in her tone.
“You didn’t tell her?” Miquella asks, sounding like the police when a brainwashed person who got arrested for a crime they didn’t know they committed.
“It should have never come to light in the first place.” Malenia states her voice firmly on the matter at hand.
“What don’t I know?” Inko asks, her voice becoming overcome with worry.
Malenia then spoke up her voice sounding like an old war general. “The Elden Ring is not just a special ring, it is the ring given to our parent to allow what is essentially the god above all gods to control the events of the entire land where I was born with an iron grip while casting out all other gods that used to live there. To repair the ring you will become the new vessel of the god and as such control all things to your will.”
Inko then turned to look at her wife, her eyes wide with fear for the red haired swordswoman she calls a wife. They didn’t just believe that their god was real but had physical proof that the being was real.
“So you now see why I have come. I need my sister's help to make sure that this god does not get influenced by the worst of our brothers.” Miquella says his voice being that of a serious adult instead of his childlike appearance.
“I wish for some time to think this over.” Malenia says, getting up from the table and walking to the room where she and Inko sleep.
When she gets into the room and closes the door she falls to her knees she could almost cry but she physically couldn’t because of the god of rot taking her eyes like it took her arm and legs.
‘Curse the gods curse them all, they care nothing for us, they only wish to take what is ours and cause pain’ Malenia thinks to herself as she slumps to the ground in disbare.
Then she hears a knock on the door.
“Malenia, it’s Inko. Could I come in?” her wife asks, her voice overwhelmed with worry.
Malenia was about to refuse but something in her heart stopped her from refusing and could only say one word in response.
“Please,” Her voice sounded as though she was truely crying even without her eyes.
As Inko entered the room Malenia hears the door opening and moves out of the way.
Inko then walks to Malenia and sits down next to the woman she loves.
“Is it okay to touch you?” Inko asks worry in her tone that calls to her intentions.
“Please,” Malenia says, she then feels the hand of her beloved lightly touch her back the feeling of warmth causes her to feel even worse for herself she could hardly hold feelings of anger and sadness back. She then wrapped her good arm around her wife followed by her prosthetic falling into a deep hug.
Eventually Inko returned the hug and then fell deeper into the hug as Malenia began to apologise profusely about the situation. Until Inko kissed her wife to stop the string of apologies.
Before Malenia could say anything after the kiss was broken Inko asked a single question.
“Malenia, do you remember the night we meet?”
Malenia could never forget that night. She had just left the Lands between to try and find what the world was like outside of the known lands and instead learn about the places her master had described of building so tall that even birds could never reach the top and on that starless night she found the city and her master taught her how to speak all the languages of the places outside of the land between.
So when she entered the city she found she began to try and blend in with her travellers clothes and wrapped eyes she could sense many of the people but could not see them. She then heard a slight scream coming from an ally she went to investigate only to find a man attacking a defenceless woman trying to take advantage of her. So Malenia stepped in and knocked the man out with, but a single punch to the head.
Turns out the man was Inko’s now ex-husband and was trying to force her to have a child with him even though she felt uncomfortable with the idea of having one with him. After words they talked a bit and feel in love and after the divorce Inko married Malenia and eventually they were able to get a comfortable life for themselves and one night she and Inko had a sensual night of love and when it was over Inko asked if it okay with her to have a child and when Malenia said yes she could feel how her wife’s heart raced at the feeling and so began the search for the right person to be the sperm donor for their offspring. Until, about six weeks into the search Malenia began throwing up in the morning after the third time this happened Inko demanded to take her directly to the hospital where they found Malenia was six weeks pregnant with both Inko’s and her child. The surprise on both of their faces probably shocked the doctors as much as finding out that Malenia had only had relationships with Inko and had no donor.
When Melacent was born that was the only time she and Inko had gotten into an argument and it was over what to name their beautiful daughter. The second best day of her life was when they finally were able to take their baby girl home. After the first month Malenia felt the Scarlet Rot begin start to stir in her daughter so she did the only thing she could think of to protect her daughter from the Rot and placed the needle in a spot where it would never get noticed by Inko in the ball of the foot so the rot would never spread any further on her beloved daughter.
“Of course Inko, How could I ever forget the night I met the most beautiful woman in my life.” Malenia says her voice started to become calm as the two wives held each other.
“Do you also remember the night when Izumi and I returned home, and how you stepped up to encourage our daughter’s dream.” Inko says to Malenia her voice becoming more soothing to her wife.
“Yes,” Malenia responds, her voice slowly becoming more steady.
“I know that this family is important to you but I know you can’t abandon your brother to the others and if you leave I trust you to be okay.” Inko says as she rubs her wife’s back.
“But what about Melacent?” Malenia asks, as her voice is getting calmer but still wavering.
“We can explain it to Izumi tomorrow but I know how much leaving will mean but I know you will do everything in your power to come home to us after you leave.” Inko says her voice soothing to her wife.
“Alright, but I want Melacent’s input as well. She deserves to have a decision in this matter as much as I do.” Malenia says to her wife her voice starting to reach her normal tone.
When Malenia and Inko left their room a few minutes later Malenia went to Izumi’s room. When they enter they find their daughter looking practising the more basic sword exercises Malenia showed her when Izumi was seven while facing away from the door.
“Melacent, I need to talk to you about something very important.” Malenia says in a saddened tone.
“Yes, Mama.” Melacent answers as she turns to her mother as she quickly puts the practice sword down.
“Melacent, I need to talk to you about my homeland.” Malenia tells her daughter.
“Really what is it like? What is its name? Who are some of its heroes?” Melacent asks in a spitfire of questions that reminds Malenia of how Inko would often ask questions early on in their relationship.
“Well my child, it is a beautiful land called the lands between, and well the thing is that it has no true heroes as we think of them. However, the reason I am talking to you about this is that the child you meet today is my twin brother Miquella and war is about to break out and since he is cursed with eternal childhood he needs me to defend those who can not defend themselves.” Malenia explains to her daughter as best she can.
“So you will be a hero.” Melacent answers her mother.
“In a way yes but I will more than likely have to end the lives of many of my brothers who have decided to turn their lives to that of destroying the entire land.” Malenia explains to her daughter in a saddened voice.
“But you will be saving as many lives as you can right?” Melacent asks her mother.
“Yes I will try to save as many lives as I can.” Malenia answers her daughter.
“Then go and save them. They deserve to live even if your brothers have decided otherwise but I just want you to promise me something.” Melacent states her tone being that of fear and sadness.
“Anything,” Malenia answered, her voice showing her love.
“Promise me that I will see you again alive.” Melacent demands as she gets closer to her mother.
Malenia without thinking answers in a heartfelt tone.
“Of course, it will take more than a war with my brothers to keep me away from you and your mum.”
“Then go save them, go and save your homeland.” Melacent answers with the determination in her eyes that if they weren’t already hold the stars in place.
The next morning Izumi was standing next to her mum as her uncle was standing outside their door; the three of them waiting on her mama to finish getting ready.
“You two could come with us. We have a safe place where the two of you could stay.” Her uncle Miquella says in a calm voice.
“No, it’s fine we can wait for her to return to us.” Mum says as she holds Izumi’s hand tightly.
“Yeah, plus I have school tomorrow anyways.” Izumi says as she returns the gesture her mother gave her.
“I’m ready to leave,” Her mama’s voice rings out from behind Izumi and Inko causing the two to turn around.
When Izumi does turn around, what she sees is nothing short of breathtaking. Her mama dressed in a beautiful flowing dress of silk her prosthetic legs being seen through the opening in the front her mechanical sword arm being fully shown in its full glory and finally a helmet that covered almost her entire face with the exception of her mouth giving her the appearance of a valkyrie from Norse mythology.
“You look beautiful Mama,” Izumi says as she stares at her mother.
“Thank you Izumi, what do you think, Inko?” Malenia asks as she looks away from Izumi and to her wife.
“You appear like a goddess.” Mum says as if stating a fact as she looks at her wife.
“Yes she appears nice, but we must leave soon.” Miquella says in a tone of irritation.
“Hold on brother, let me say my final goodbyes to my wife and child.” Malenia says as she approaches the small family she had away from her homeland.
“Alright, I will wait down stairs.” Miquella says as he leaves the three alone for their final goodbyes.
“I am sure you will come back to us.” Inko says as Malenia approaches, then reaches for a hug. From her wife.
When the two embraced there were slight tears forming in Inko’s eyes. When they separated Malenia wipes the tears from her wife’s eye.
Then Malenia kneeled down to be eye to eye with her daughter then Izumi embraced her mother with a hug around the neck.
“Please remember your promise Mama.” Melicent whispers to her mother.
“Of course my beloved daughter. Also there is a friend I got in contact with that said he will help train you while I am gone.” Malenia said to Izumi as she fell deeper into the hug.
“I guess it is time for me to leave. I promise I will be back before you know it.” Malenia says as she walks to the stairs to meet with her brother.
