Angel of mine

“Mama…” The childish words came out of Loki’s lips when another illusion was beginning in his much-white cell. One of his best memories being alive — once again. He was three, was snowing and Frigga was playing with him in her gardens, now covered of white snow. Loki was laughing, playing around his Mother. Frigga had that stunned look in her eyes; her little boy was so beautiful she couldn’t help herself, but being stunned with him. His green eyes were shining, looking to the snow. Loki was truly happy — he finally was allowed to play there at this time of the year. Only him and his beloved Mother, no one to bother their moment.

“Loki!” Frigga called for him, with her warm smile. “Come here, sweetheart, I found a snowflake only for you.” Now, Loki knew it was a magic, not a real snowflake, but the magic didn’t failed to let him amazed. “Can you see it? Mama found it specially for you, my boy.” Loki put his two fingers in his mouth and smiled to his Mother. He felt her arms around him, grabbing him up — immediately, Loki ran his arms around her neck, feeling safe and sound, surrounded by her love and care in her arms. “Mama loves you so, little Loki. Do you love Mama too?” And Loki always nodded, with a large smile on his tiny child face.

“I love you so much, Mama. I do.” Loki kept saying when the illusion faded away. The Prison Guards knew Loki was going insane, because they saw Loki talking alone everyday, all day; but what they couldn’t see was his illusions — it was only Loki illusions, his private memories turning into some kind of reality again. “Mama, the snowflake melted… Do you forgive me?” And each different day, Loki tried to find another way to ask forgiveness for being the one blamed for her death. “I did not meant to let it melt, mommy, I did not wished it to melt… But it did, and I am the blame one for it.” And he was crying again. Everyday it happened until he get exhausted and falling asleep — sat on the corner of his cell, with his messy dark hair falling on his face; his clothes torn and his feet bleeding.

Loki was killing himself, slowly and the most painful way he could. Loud sobs was now coming out of his throat, the Guards were staring at the mad man — how does a Prince turned into this? The unceasing heavily cry tainting his face. The pain, the blame, the madness was killing him and, somewhere, somehow, Loki knew it. And he wanted it.

Somehow, without realising what he was doing, another illusion began — actually, there are doubts if it was only a illusion, because this time the Guards could see Queen Frigga walking through her son’s cell, lowering her body in his front and grabbing his hand. Loki felt her touch; not warm, not real… Just his Mother’s much known touch. She smiled sad to him, with tear in her eyes — they let her jewel, her beloved little boy become insane. “Mommy…?” The jewel of Frigga’s life asked, with wide eyes, He couldn’t believe what he was seeing and feeling — it was really his beloved Mother holding his hands?

Frigga kept the little smile on her lips, but started to cry. She could see the insanity in his eyes, she could feel his sadness from distance. Her little boy was lost in a ocean of pain and blame. “Mommy, the snowflake melted… Can you forgive me? I did not wanted it to melt, because was you who gave me it.” Loki showed his hands as if there had something, but of course had nothing. It made Frigga even more sad.

“Yes, my love, mommy forgives you. It was not your fault, my Loki, snowflakes usually melt.” Loki gave her a demented smile — Frigga forgave him! His Mother didn’t hated him, also, she said he wasn’t guilty for what happened. “Loki…” She called him softly, running her fingers through his wet face. "It is time to make your pain stop. Trust in mama, will you?” She asked, standing up and grabbing her son’s much-pale and lean hand. Loki nodded and suddenly, like a miracle, he felt peace surrounding him. Peace, love, protection… He was three again, looking up to his Mother, whom was extending her arms to pick him up. Loki accepted it happily, and when he was lifted up, he immediately passed his tiny arms around her neck and then, like one of her million magic tricks, they started to float, passing through the cell’s ceiling, and then to the Goldheim’s ceiling too, reaching out Asgards sky.

Loki found the peace, the rest he searched so much with his Mother in Valhala. Yes, he went to Valhala with her. The Guards found Loki's body moments later Frigga’s illusion had begun — he killed himself with magic. Loki died with a not-demented smile on his face, he left Asgard in peace. He left it with his angel, his savior… His Mother.
