Chapter 6
It had been a week since she woke up in the hospital, and Taylor was starting to think she was going to go crazy from bordom. She had been put on bedrest for a week after getting home because when she had been shoved in the locker she had gotten a nasty gash to her left leg that had become infected. She thought it unfair that she went through all that and got nothing from it, no powers, not even her bullies got in trouble for it.
Taylor's father, Danny had stopped by the library the day before and picked up a few books for her to read while she recovered and it was for one of them that she reached now. The book title on top of the pile was So You Want To Be A Wizard. It sounded interesting.
The first page had a warning on it that she just skipped over, it was just a book, what could be dangerous about that, right? The second page had the Oath.
(In Life's name and for Life's sake, I assert that I will employ the Art which is its gift in Life's service alone, rejecting all other usages. I will guard growth and ease pain. I will fight to preserve what grows and lives well in its own way; and I will change no object or creature unless its growth and life, or that of the system of which it is part, are threatened. To these ends, in the practice of my Art, I will put aside fear for courage, and death for life, when it is right to do so -- till Universe's end.)
When she finished the oath there was a flash of light and a small, fresh smelling breeze.
It was quite some time later when she stood in front of Scion and greeted him. "Fairest and fallen, greeting and defiance!"
