"I'm fine" said Ava, trying her best to walk straight. A few weeks have passed since the Adriel situation, but still, all of them are still on the edge, especially Ava. She hasn't been eating due to stress, and she hasn't been sleeping enough due to nightmares; of course this was noticed by her girlfriend Beatrice, but she hasn't said anything about it yet. Today had been harder, the Halo bearer was pushing her body and the Halo to the limits, leaving her exhausted after a few hours.
Now they were on their way home, and Ava was struggling to walk straight, but she refused help, claiming she was fine.
"Ava you're clearly not okay, let me help you" said Beatrice with concern in her voice; she got closer to Ava, who slowly got away from her, upsetting Beatrice a little bit. A few streets away from their home, Ava stops walking and leans against the nearest wall, slowly falling to the floor to sit. Her partner doesn't waste a second before sitting next to her taking Ava's hand gently and pressing a soft kiss to it. They stay there, sitting, for a couple of minutes before Beatrice stands up and offers her hand to Ava to help her get up; as soon as the shorter girl stands up, her legs lose all it strength, making her almost fall if it hadn't been for Beatrice, who caught her just in time.
"Bea I can walk on my own" said Ava, her voice getting weaker and weaker with each word, once again she tries to walk on her own, which she manages to do for a few moments before passing out right there, the Nun was able to catch her again, slowly moving the shorter girl's shoulder to try and wake her up, which doesn't work. She sighs before carrying Ava on her arms to their home. She has to admit, it was kind of hard opening the door, but she somehow did it; one inside, she quickly put Ava on their bed and went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. She was just starting when she heard a loud noise in their room, followed by a painful scream, the taller girls runs to the bedroom to find Ava on the floor, unable to move.
"Bea! Bea I, I can't move!" yelled Ava, trying to move her body, Beatrice quickly carried her again and was about to leave Ava on the bed again when the other girl bit her shirt. "Don't go!" yelled the short girl, tears rolling down her cheeks. Beatrice nodded and put Ava on the bed before sitting next to her on the bed, gently holding Ava the best she could. The other girl was in panic, her body shaking, not being able to move was one of her worst nightmares; she couldn't stop crying and trying her best to move.
"You're okay Ava, calm down, breathe" said the Nun, gently stroking her partner's hair to try and help her relax. "I can't move, I can't I, why can't I move? I, I don't wanna be paralyzed anymore Bea, I don't want to, I-" Beatrice cut her talk with a gentle kiss, rubbing Ava's cheek with her thumb. "You're okay darling, okay? Your body is just exhausted, this won't last long, I promise" said the taller girl gently putting Ava's head on her chest. "I'm here darling, it's okay. you're okay" and with that, the Halo bearer was able to slowly breathe, her body stopped shaking and she could slowly move her fingers; they stayed like that a few more minutes, the energetic girl slowly falling asleep.
When Beatrice realized she wouldn't be able to make dinner, she got comfy on the bed before resting Ava's head on her chest again and taking her phone to text Mary, asking her if she could come over to help her, but there was no response; after 10 minutes without an answer, she texted Camila, asking her to come over, which Camila did. About half an hour later Camila arrived, getting nervous when she saw that the door wasn't locked; with a hand close to her gun she entered the place slowly, making sure not to make noise, she walked carefully until she saw Beatrice on the bed with Ava sleeping next to her, she walked to them, chuckling at the scene in front of her.
"I'm sorry for asking this, but could you, um" Beatrice looked away nervously, not sure if it was okay to ask Camila if she could make something to eat, the black haired girl just stared at her for a few seconds before letting out a small laugh. "You need me to cook something?" asked Camila, already starting to walk to the kitchen, "Is chicken soup okay?" she questions, looking back at Beatrice, who just nods her head gently before kissing Ava's forehead. Camila starts to cook, occasionally looking at her Sisters, noticing how every time she looked, Beatrice seemed to relax a bit more each time, Camila couldn't help but smile at that scene; it didn't take long for the soup to be ready, she served two bowls and walked to the bedroom, putting them on the little nightstand next to the bed. Beatrice kissed Ava's nose gently and began trying to wake her up.
"Darling, wake up, come on, we're gonna eat" she said gently, her soft voice was followed by a rough growl coming from Ava before she opened her eyes and tried her best to sit on the bed, which she somehow did, she could now move a little bit more; but she wasn't strong enough to move her arms and hold the plate, which made Beatrice feed her a few moments, just until she could hold the bowl on her hands; once Ava was finally able to eat on her own, Beatrice also began eating, a smile appearing on her face because of how nice the soup was. "You're not hungry?" asked Beatrice to Camila, who was playing a game on her phone, "Not really, I ate like an hour ago with Mother Superior" said the short haired girl with a smile. They both kept talking while the tallest girl finished eating, Ava had finished eating before Beatrice, putting her empty bowl on the nightstand; when Beatrice finished eating she put her bowl on top of Ava's bowl.
The two girls got comfy on bed, Ava stared at Camila and invited her to join, which she did, a little nervous at first, joining on Beatrice's right side, while Ava was on Beatrice's left side. The first one to fall asleep was Ava, with her head on her girlfriend's chest; next was Camila, with her head on Beatrice's shoulder. The tallest Nun felt calm for the first time in weeks, being able to breathe deeply without problem.
While they were sleeping, Mary came over, entering the place without making noise, Camila was the only one who woke up, quickly falling asleep once again as soon as she realized it was Mary, who decided to wash the dishes and stay there for an hour or so in case Beatrice needed something. After she finished washing the dishes, she sat on the small couch and stayed awake for an hour or so, when she started to feel sleepy, she took a photo of the girls sleeping on the bed and send it to Mother Superior, before getting comfier on the couch and falling asleep.
None of the girls woke up that night, and they all got the well deserved sleep.
In the early morning, around 2AM, Camila woke up to go to the bathroom, she made sure not to make noise. When she was back on the bed, she checked her phone, noticing a text from Mother Superior, it was the photo Mary took of them, so as a little revenge, the black haired girl took a photo of Mary sleeping on the couch and send it to Mother Superior, before turning off her phone and going back to sleep.
It was probably the most peaceful night the four of them had had in a few months.
