Danger

I winced in pain as i tried to move my foot slowly. "You mustve pulled a muscle, dont try to move it alot, it'll go down in a few hours or so." Alaina said as she examined my foot, i was leaning at the car door, my body facing Alaina. "It would be nice if we got ice, or maybe if we could massage it with oil." She continued, "Hey, Kiel, can you pass me the map you guys bought?" I asked him.

He opened compartment, handing me the map, "You cant go out just so you know." I only laughed sheepishly, seems like he's really worried. Evan immediately clicked the light on the monitor as he noticed i needed the light. I sighed, we were trapped, the right and left states are major cities, the only option is to stay in between, but i dont know how long we'll last. I groan in annoyance, each state was populated as fuck.

We were in Oregon, it was a good thing i went home or else i wouldve been stuck or dead in Washington. I looked over at the kids and Joey, the kids were asleep which was good. "So, after looking at the map, i noticed each state of fucking america is very populated. Whats the state with the very least population?" I said, i felt bad about cursing with the kids in the car but i couldnt help it as each second i was getting more annoyed. "Wyoming has the least population, atleast thats what i was last informed." Joey said.

I hummed, "Wyoming it is then, Its gonna take us a couple of weeks to get there so we'll need to make a few stops." They all nodded in agreement, they mustve been finally relieved that we finally have a destination.

I woke up when the car came to halt, i mustve dozed off because Ezekiel was the one driving now. I looked out the window, it was still abit dark. I moved my foot gently, it doesnt hurt as much but it still hurts if i put on too much pressure. The car was quiet, only soft snores were heard. Ezekiel went out of the car, opening the trunk. He must be getting food ready. I roll down the window, "Kiel, its best if we scout the area first before we eat out."

Ezekiel nodded, getting out the weapon duffel bags, Alaina and Evan seemed to have woken up by the noise. She mumbled a small goodmorning, rubbing her eyes. I bid her goodmorning too and asked if she could check out my foot. She nodded in agreement, stretching her body first before looking at my foot.

I sighed as Evan and Ezekiel took off, if only i could help them. Well technically i could, but then again i really dont wanna agitate Ezekiel more with the things i do. So, i stayed put. As time passed, i grew more bored and bored, im just gonna take a nap for a little while.

By the time i woke up, the sun was already out. Alaina had woken me up for some breakfast as most of us were awake now. The twins were finally out, by they still looked afraid as they glued to their father. We were huddled around in a circle, eating quietly. The air was cold, its almost winter. So we'll need to take shelter soon. I shuddered, i really wasnt that fond of the cold as i could easily get hypothermia.

Once we were done, we put out the duffel bags that contained our clothes as we take out our sweaters or jackets and put them on. Its the start of december, the winter season finally starting. We'll have to start looking for a house before the snow falls, im not gonna let us stay in the car, i cant risk the others getting sick.

I briefed the others on my plan while Joey played with his kids, i dont want them to lose more of their childhood, i'll protect them as much as i can. Once we were done putting our duffel bags in the trunk, we let the kids in first and i sat beside them as Ezekiel said so i cant make any impulsive decisions again. I rolled my eyes playfully at him. The others soon got in the car one by one. Joey was the one driving now, while Ezekiel sat beside him on the front seat, Alaina and Evan being on the second row. I was in the middle, Aime and Ami laid down, using my thighs as their pillow.

I took out some small blankets to cover the girls as i could see that they would occassionally shiver from time to time, they went back to sleeping cuddling their dolls. It was only understandable considering that we had woken them up at 6am. With each passing second, my eyes growing heavy and soon, sleep overtook me.

I woke up when the car had stop abruptly, bumping my head on the seat. I wince from the impact, looking up to see what caused us to stop abruptly. My eyes widen in fear, there in the middle of the highway, stood a zombie. They were that fast to reach us? I look over at the kids, they were still sleeping soundly, thank god for that.

Joey pressed on the gas, hitting the zombie on the process. The girls woke up startled, "Sorry kids, Dad didnt see that there was a bump on the road." He lied as he laughed sheepishly, feighning innocence, but we didnt say anything and just went along with it. The girls only nodded their heads, rubbing their eyes.

They didnt try to sleep again, this time we were playing with their dolls, having a fun time, laughing from time to time. The kids seemed like they were having fun, which was good to see considering they havent been having a fun time as we were moving from place to place.
