Chapter 7
“In every good thing that happens in your life, bad thing will always come after.”
That is what you believed in, it saved yourself from many disappointments and broken expectations. Your time with Kuina and Ippei made you extremely pleased, and your lazy hangouts filled your empty heart little by little.
You knew bad things are eventually going to appear. And it did.
Your wounds that you tried so hard to heal and forget got reopened, worse than before. You unconsciously tighten your hold on Chishiya's hand that you were being intertwined with. Your lips were trembling as you eyes started to sting.
You saw the person you shared the half your heart with. The person that gave you their warmth in exchange. The same person who broke the remaining half of your hard into pieces. The person you considered as your most beloved. Your chosen soulmate.
Your best friend.
The one who gave you the will to live, to enjoy life, to be happy, only to be the same reason of your pain. The only type of pain you never enjoyed, never sought and the only one you didn't want to experience again.
Your best friend and their new friend group, happily chatting around a circular table of the coffee shop you and Chishiya was about to spend you afternoon at. Your eyes met theirs. Their eyes widen and then smiled at you. You uncomfortably gave them one, nodded and averted your gaze.
Chishiya, and his amazing sixth sense, quickly read the situation, and gently guided you outside the shop. Your best friend excused themselves and ran to you.
“[Name]!” people looked at them, but they didn't care. Your best friend needed to talk to you. “[Name], wait, please!”
You quicken your steps, you honestly didn't want to deal with this. You weren't prepared for any of this. Your mind is all over the place, and you know that if you talk to your former best friend, you'll have your outburst. You won't have restrictions to your mouth, every thing, even the harshest words, will slip out.
Your friend tried to grabbed your arm and out of reflex, you turned to face them and slapped their hand away. Chishiya wrapped his arm around your [what can he reach in your body?waist/shoulder/ torso] as he defensively tugged you towards him.
“Let's talk, like the usual?”
“No. There is no... Such thing as like the usual. Go back to your friends, I really can't do this. And besides people are looking.”
“Then let's do it in a place without people? The two of us, alone?” sickeningly sweet tone. You hate it. It wasn't their way of speaking to you, before when they met the reason your friendship got ripped in half.
You really didn't want to talk to them. You hated that even months of not talking to them, you still wanted to hold their hand, that has always been your sign of affection. But you knew that the more you drag the issue on, it will just make you suffer than it already does to your poor heart.
“I will talk to you, but not alone. My companion won't bother our talk, I assure you.” reluctantly they agreed.
You were in an peaceful and quiet alley, something they never thought existed in the busy and bustling city of Tokyo.
“So, why didn't you tell me that you got accepted in the university?” cheery tone, too cheery, reminds you of their new friend.
“You didn't want me to text you, remember?”
“Ah, how's your studies?”
“Did you really approach me just to have a small talk? Be straight to the point.” your words laced with venom, tone you never thought you would give to them.
“Why do you ignore me? Us? Is there a problem? Let's talk it out! Uh, we still can go back to what we were before you drifted away.”
“Me? Drifting away?” you bit your bottom lip, as your voice cracked. “You told me that I suffocated you, and you want space, because apparently, I'm too possessive. Which I did. I let you be happy, while you left me alone, while you stayed with your new friends.”
“You have your new friends with you, too! And besides, she needed me.”
“You were my friend too! And even if I'll have new friends, I will try to include you there. I'll always put you first, and never that I will leave you just so I can stay with new friends.” you knew you were being childish, friends this, friends that, but you didn't care one bit. “You treated me in a way you know damn fucking well I would never do to you. When you asked for space, I gave it to you.”
Your tears pour and pour as much as you tried to stop it. You aggressively wiped your tears as your sobs overpowered your voice. It was embarrassing, but you didn't know how to stop it.
“I gave you what you space you wanted, because I didn't want to hurt you, or at least discomfort you. Now you're behaving as if the reason our friendship turned into this was my fault? How brutal can you be? Why must you hurt me like this?” you continued as they tried to touch you. “I'm begging you, don't. Don't try to make me feel better. Don't convince me to go back to past. Please, return to your new friends. Just pretend we didn't know each other closely.”
“I'm sorry.”
They left you to cry. Their sad eyes with Chishiya's sharp intimidating gaze, but looked away and returned to the coffee shop.
Chishiya always thought that if he sees you with human emotions, he would be delighted, he would feel ecstatic, that finally, he made you break. But no. He didn't feel any fun at your sobbing form. Your hiccups didn't make him entertained.
He made a conclusion, he hates seeing you cry.
He practically ran towards you when you collapsed to your knee. He cupped your face to see if you were fine. He patted his pockets finding a handkerchief, which he luckily had. He wiped your tears, removed hair from your face and cooed you.
“Don't worry [Name], you have me. You're safe. Come on, let's stand, hmm.” his usual condescendingly sarcastic tone was nowhere to be found. It was soft and made you cry more.
After bottling everything up, and the container broke, it was difficult to gather everything back to its usual place. It was your first time crying after many years.
“You're just saying that. Once you see who the real me is, you're gonna throw me away, you're gonna leave me behind, that's what you all do. When you end up not liking my real personality, you abandon me. You're just lying because I'm crying.” your voice was soft, yet he heard everything clearly.
“I ain't lying to you. You have me.” he brought you to hug him. You grasped his shirt ever so tightly, afraid that he'll really leave you behind.
“Do you swear. Please say you swear.”
“Yes. Of course. I swear with my life, my soul, that I'll never leave you.”
Such a stupid friend they were. Now that he had you on his arms, there is no way that he'll let you go. And if that former friend of you bother you, or even just be at the same proximity as you, he's more than sure that he would kill them.
Bonus:
The next day after that heartbreaking scene, Chishiya went to the table where Ippei and Kuina was eating. He then placed a total of ¥2500 on the table which caught the two off guard. Not wanting to be teased, he walked away.
After a minute, the two realized what the money was for. Their faces flabbergasted.
[A/N]: I mentioned that [Name]'s love language, like love love love language is holding hands, just holding hands.(Your characterized version for this fanfic doesn't enjoy physical touch that much, and have different love language.) And I mentioned that Chishiya and you were having your fingers intertwined. Soooo iykyk.
