"Hush now, it's alright baby, you're alright. I'm here with you, you're safe." She heard a voice say from far away, and she felt a distant hand card through her hair. When she opened her eyes, she saw her mother's own, smiling yet concerned, staring down at her.
"There you are, princess."

"Hush now, it's alright baby, you're alright. I'm here with you, you're safe." She heard a voice say from far away, as a distant hand carded through her hair; and it all felt so familiar, like a memory from childhood. But when she opened her eyes, she saw no one around her. The place looked weirdly peaceful and empty and she looked down to see her own body, cradled in the arms of her girlfriend, kneeling in a puddle of her blood, and when she saw her body draw its final breath, she heard her say with tears streaming down her face:
"There you are, princess."
