Day 30 (Darcy/Natasha)

“What’s in there?” Ever since Darcy was allowed to ask questions she has been doing just that. Thankfully Natasha just finds it cute most of the time. This however is the first time that they’re in Natasha’s apartment without a clear purpose. Natasha had been reading while Darcy was snooping around. At the question Natasha looks up and when she notices the box that Darcy is pointing at she sighs softly and puts the book down.

“I guess now is as good a time as any.” She says softly as she uncurls and rises from the couch. She easily picks the box up and takes it with her to the couch. She motions for Darcy to sit before falling silent, eyes unwatching and fingers unknowingly stroking the box. It makes Darcy nervous; she’s never seen Natasha like this. She knows that she’ll never know all of the Black Widow but she knows enough about her girlfriend to feel a little freaked out by her current behaviour.

“Tasha?” She slowly reaches out to not startle the other woman (because that would end badly) and interlaces their fingers. “You don’t need to tell me if you don’t want to.”

Natasha smiles, the way she does when nobody but Darcy is watching, and shakes her head. She opens the box with her free hand and puts it on the coffee table. “These are letters and postcards of people that I once considered friends, allays or lovers.”

Darcy squeezes her hand in assurance. “Seems like a lot of letters.” She responds softly and Natasha lips quirk up in response but the sadness remains in her eyes.

“I’m older then I look.” Natasha takes a deep breath and looks her in the eyes. “I am not who I was born. The girl I was born to be lived in Russia on a small farm. Her parents….”

And that’s how Darcy Lewis became the only person to know the truth behind Natasha Romanoff. And Darcy, well, she loved her regardless.
