Human
When Miku woke up, the side of her neck and chest hurt, it felt like she received the worst cat scratches she had ever received in her life. Groaning and raising her head from the cushion, eyes met with the very bright and now sparkling eyes of her vampire companion.
“Good morning my puppy,” Luka’s voice was filled with love and lust for her. Miku couldn’t help but to blush and look down, finally noticing she was still naked and her skin was touching Luka’s bare skin as well. Her hand grabbed the edge of the blanket and pulled over her head in embarrassment.
“Why are you still here?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” As if she could hear the vampire raise an eyebrow. The werewolf stayed silent trying to not let the embarrassment cause her to wolf out, it was something about the vampire that made her feel so small and vulnerable.
“I don’t know, it’s just….” Miku let her thoughts fade away as she didn’t know where to go with her words. Pulling the blanket down to rest it on her chest and hands folded on top of it. “I wasn’t expecting this, ya know?”
“With a vampire?”
“With anyone.”
“Why wouldn’t you be with anyone?” Luka questioned, almost offended that Miku would even say that about herself. Miku sighed heavily, and tapped her right index finger over her other hand in thought.
“I guess I never get this far with a girl,” she shrugged. Luka laughed, almost in a cackle that it amused her so much. “What’s so funny?” Miku sat up, her face was in anger watching the vampire calm her giggles.
“You have no idea how much that excites me. I get to have you all to myself, I don’t have to break some other person's arm to keep them off of you.” Luka sits up and grabs Miku and pulls her in.
The vampire used a hand to pull Miku into a kiss, letting their bodies fuse together like ivy and a fence. A tangle of flesh and hair stretched across the bed, the werewolf nuzzled into the nook of Luka’s neck, the feeling of comfort and safety washed over her. “Are we like girlfriends… or..?”
“Call it what you want puppy, just know you are mine and I intend to keep it that way.” Luka says almost completely dodging the question, it was something that she was struggling internally with. Such a simple title was overwhelming and too intimate for her, and felt too undeserving for that position. Luka wanted everything that came with being a girlfriend but the fact was she was too scared to break that bond with Miku when the time came.
“Well could we do something together? Like visit that coffee shop or the mall, just something?” Miku asked, trying not to look confused after Luka’s comment.
“Let’s go shopping, I need some new shirts.”
“Like the same white button ups that you wear everyday?”
“Listen, that's what I’m told to wear, if I had a real choice I’d probably wear something else. My queen is a bit controlling,” she sighed
“Well when you are over you can wear different clothes, she won’t know right?”
Luka let out a laugh, her fingers circling the soft skin of Miku’s torso. “She doesn’t, but I prefer to wear nothing with you.”
“Oh shut up,” Miku giggled before rolling away and off the bed. “Get up and get dressed.”
The two would dance around the room, Miku would find herself something to wear and Luka would stalk over and take a bite out of her. Leaving marks where she could before the werewolf would push her off and scold her, Luka would only keep that to fuel her to ‘punish’ her puppy later. Miku was dressed in a sleeveless turtleneck, the black fabric hugged her petite body, while her pleated skirt flared and showed off her legs and elongated them. Luka’s favorite part of her whole outfit was the thigh highs that stopped mid thigh and still let her see the edges of a hickey Luka left.
Luka on the other hand was borrowing some clothes from Kaito’s closet. An old tshirt with a sports logo on it and a pair of sweatpants that was rolled at the waist so the long legs wouldn’t trip her. Her long salmon hair was tied back for once in a ponytail that rested on the pack of her head. This was probably the most comfortable she has felt in decades.
The two women called for an Uber and silently rode in the back seat of the sedan, their finger’s slightly touching in the middle seat while they looked out their own perspective window. Their driver stayed silent as he drove to their destination, the radio softly played in the background of the recent top hits. Miku would lightly tap her foot to the rhythm and bob her head to the music. Luka couldn’t even acknowledge the music, listening to the radio had been so foreign to her and it showed how deeply separated she was from the outside world. The reality really pained her, how much of the world grew and advanced while she remained the same under the authoritarian rule of the Kagamines. It was the first time Luka really opened her eyes.
“Here we are ladies.” The driver pulled to the curb and flashed his hazards to let other drivers pass him while they got out.
Miku thanked the driver and started to walk towards the automatic doors that opened when someone was near, Luka followed closely, eyeing every human that surrounded them. Their eyes made the ghoul feel as warm as the summer sun, she just wanted to melt into a puddle.
“You ok?”
“I haven’t been around this many humans since last century, are they always staring at you?” Luka grabbed tightly on the werewolf’s hand.
“It’s all in your head. Humans don’t care enough, they think monsters are in the dark and unexplored areas. Not their local mall.”
“How do you know that?”
“Luka, I’ve lived beside them all my life. Just trust me, no one is going to harm us.”
The vampire sucks on her teeth and nods. The two began their journey going into one store and then the next. Miku was showing Luka the human world and explaining how different everything worked. Every once and a while she would dwindle into a monologue of something she enjoyed, capturing the ghouls who attention and have her heart only grow fonder from it.
Luka picked up an extremely short crop top, the black fabric felt stretchy between her fingers. “Hey pup, why don’t you try this on?”
Miku walked away from the rack of clothes to peek over Luka’s shoulder to see. She made a small gasp before pinching the vampire on the cheek. “Do you really think I’d fit that?”
“It’s stretchy.”
“I am a modest wolf, I don’t dress to impres-“
“For me please, dress to impress your mate.” Luka brought her voice to a whisper leaning into the side of Miku’s head and allowing the heat from her mouth hit her skin. The werewolf grew red and hands held the edge of her skirt trying to keep any thoughts of a wagging tail away while in public.
Miku grabbed the hanger that held the shirt and started towards the dressing room. “I’m only doing this because you are so embarrassing.”
Luka laughed and continued to sit on a bench outside the rooms and used a hand to comb her bangs. She was smiling just enjoying the feeling of being human for the first time, something that hasn’t happened since the day she turned. It felt like a dream that would never come true and yet she was here finally. It was all thanks to the werewolf, and yet she still didn't even know how to repay for this. Luka still had to think of one way to save the poor girl from a death sentence, it weighed her down and eye bags felt heavy just thinking of it.
“Enjoying yourself?”
“Ah yes, thank you.” Luka responded to what she thought was the store employee.
“Never thought I would hear those words from you Lulu.”
Blue eyes met gold eyes, only fear and intense anger was shared. Neru.
