Tonight was a special occasion, she was meeting her girlfriend's friends for the first time, so Spidra wanted to look presentable. While she normally preferred a garment with a hood, for tonight she was wearing a gray and black dress with red trim that Frosta had helped her pick out. When she was finished getting dressed she decided to stand in front of a mirror and 'survey the damage' before Frosta came to bring her to the party. Thankfully, she didn't think the dress looked that bad, but it was still a little too fancy for her tastes.
As an Arachna, in addition to ordinary arms and legs she had four additional spider limbs coming out of her back, and thankfully the dress accommodated for that. In addition to extra limbs, Spidra had a smaller pupilless eye next to both of her regular eyes, and all of them were as red as the short peekaboo hair that covered half her face. As she remembered the time that Frosta had told her how the red of her hair and eyes complimented the blue of her skin, one of her fangs poked out from behind a small smile.
That smile didn't last long however, as Spidra remembered the fact that Frosta had been putting off introducing her to her princess friends for a while now. Frosta had assured her that it had nothing to do with her, she was just afraid that they would scare her off with their questions and overprotectiveness. Which didn't exactly raise her confidence in finally meeting them in a few minutes.
Though she could be bold when she wanted to be, Spidra was typically a quiet and stoic girl, and rarely changed her expression or raised her voice. This, coupled with her natural abilities letting her dominate in the training hall, led to her fellow cadets in the Horde ostracizing her for most of her life. Though she didn't show it, she was terrified of the same thing happening again, now that she had something to lose.
Finally, Frosta knocked on her door and asked to come in, then froze when she saw Spidra in her dress. "Wow, you look… wow" she said, and Spidra bashfully replied "Thank you, I'm ready to go if you are." After she shook herself out of her stupor, Frosta said yes and they both started to leave together, when Frosta suddenly stopped.
"Hey, are you okay? You seem… off," Frosta told her in a worried tone, as if she could see right through her. Spidra denied that anything was wrong, but Frosta wasn't having any of that. "Look, I know I gave you a lotta horror stories about my friends, but they're nice people. There is NOTHING you could do tonight that would upset them. If it's embarrassing, they've probably already done it." Realizing there was no hope in trying to trick her girlfriend, Spidra opened up and told her, "I'm not worried about what I'll do. I'm worried about what I'll not do," to Frosta's confusion.
Spidra continued, "I've never been… enough, for people, I don't show my emotions like others do. If someone says something important at this party, and I don't react big enough, they'll think that I don't care about anything, that I don't care about you. But I do care, especially about you." When she was finished Frosta wanted nothing more than to give her a hug that would put Scorpia to shame, but she controlled herself and just took Spidra's hand into her own.
"Spidra, I'm not gonna lie to you and say the princesses and I have always reacted well to people who are different, because we haven't. But… we're doing better, we're trying harder to understand each other. A lot of us used to be enemies, heck, Catra almost destroyed REALITY once, and now she's dating She-Ra!" Spidra was going to ask her to clarify about the reality thing, but decided against it.
"She's not the only one, Scorpia, Entrapta, and even HORDAK are our friends now, because we learned to put our differences aside and got to know them, REALLY, know them. Whatever happens, the Alliance will find a way to be friends with you or die trying, and if anyone forgets their manners tonight, I'll make SURE they die trying!" When she was finished, Frosta emphasized her point by forming an ice fist in her free hand and winking at her stunned girlfriend.
After everything Frosta just said, Spidra didn't care if all of Etheria thought she was a heartless robot that didn't care about anything. All that mattered in the world right now was that she DID care, she cared about Frosta, and Frosta cared about her. Without thinking, Spidra responded to Frosta's heartfelt words with a kiss on the cheek.
Though the kiss was small and chaste, it was enough to turn both the young girls into blushing messes. When they were finally able to compose themselves, they joined hands and made their way to the party. Standing in front of a doorway, listening to the muffled music of a party already in progress, Frosta asked Spidra, "Are you ready?" Ready to party, ready to meet a bunch of people, or ready to take on the world together? Whatever the question was, her answer was "I am," and they opened the doors.
