All there was, was silence.
Not a single click, or tap. Not even the sound of either prisoners breath broke the all consuming vacuum that was the silence around them.
With her head facing the ground, Kyouko felt her eyes grow teary. It felt weird. Strange. Disgusting. Weak. Kie wouldn't like seeing her like this, in fact, Kie would-
"I-" Suddenly a noise broke the quiet. A strong familiar voice, one that immediately snapped her out of the dwellings of the past that had forced themselves in her mind. Yuri's voice.
"I..Well I'm going to go now, Kyou," she spoke quietly as she began stepping away, a clear victim to the tension that captured both of them,"I'll see you after the verdicts!"
Despite the way she spoke, almost as comfidently as usual, Kyouko could easily sense that Yuri's voice was riddled with self consciousness and lacking certainty.
Did she..did she think that Kyouko would leave her based on the verdict?
I mean, their conversation just now could've slightly suggested that but..
but it was Yuri.
"Yuri! wait..stop.." Kyouko quickly shuffled towards her, uncertain on how to act, just knowing that this was all wrong.
She didn't know what to do at all, she didn't even know what was happening, whats she was feeling.
"I-" Kyouko stuttered before taking a deep breath to think. She felt weak and vulnerable and terrible. just terrible. she was acting like a fucking fool right now.
she- she didn't need this. all she needed was kie
suddenly she felt a wave of nausea overcome her, why...just why did that happen?
kie... they saved her they were..they were her god and- and they loved her! they loved each other! but... why did she feel disgust at the thought of her? kie wouldn't like that..kie would'v-
suddenly she looked up to see Yuri's eyes. sad and teary, probably similar to her own.
she didn't know what to do at all...
"Uh.." she tried to think quickly but was stumped until she felt the cold touch of her metallic green hair batsu shaped hair clip. She swiftly pulled it off and handed it to a now very confused Yuri.
"here, don't just stare it like an idiot, take it.." she shoved it gently towards her.
"I-"
"I know that we're not guaranteed to be innocent next trial, i mean fuck, we've got plenty of screws between us but.."
Kyouko looked up at Yuri again, no - her friend again.
"I still want to talk to you, and eat your dumbass food, and dye our hair together..and i want to be friends."
she smiled but she felt something cold run down her cheeks in small streams. tears.
that felt weird.
Yuri smiled back and gratefully took it before leaving Kyouko's cell once and for all. At least for now.
Maybe she was right, maybe she didn't need Yuri, but she was sure about one thing she wanted her to be her friend and she wanted her to be near. always.
