Open Field Of Witches

The witch festival happens once every blood moon. The festival celebrates ‘De magie van de werelden’, A week filled with gatherings, stands/booths, potions, etc.

Every festival, baby witches are given the chance to earn their witch titles. Though not everyone participating can become a witch, there are specific rules to follow regarding these types of things.

~Rules for the festival~

  • Must be (at least) 15 years or older to participate in the ‘games’
  • No getting help from the ‘players’ of these worlds while the ‘game’ is in session.
  • Everyone must know a little about magic, have a spell book, and have charms.
  • You’ll be put in temporary covens. This is to see if you can work with other witches.

Mint was very excited about the upcoming week. This year they might become an official witch! Every year they saw off many people, some came back and were given their witch titles, or they came back and were told to leave. Some didn’t come back at all, they didn’t make it through the ‘games’.

That was fine though, witches were supposed to be strong. Not making it showed they weren’t cut out to be a witch.

It might sound cold to outsiders, but that's how people in the witch world were raised. Nothing more, nothing less to it than that.

However, Mint did wonder what caused some people never to return. Call it stupid curiosity, but how dangerous can some ‘games’ be?

Gathering up everything that will be needed for the next few days, Mint lets out a sigh. Don’t get them wrong, they were excited to leave home and try to become a full-blown witch. But come on? Who needs a spell book for a few days of playing a ‘game’?

With a huff, they threw a backpack over their shoulders. It was kinda heavy, which didn’t matter too much. The weight will just be a little annoying, judging by how far they gotta walk(and the fact they have to find the portal to the festival).

Walking out of their family's cottage, they have to stop themselves from calling out. Everyone else left for the event.

With some second-guessing, they start on the way. If they didn’t want to be attacked at night, then they should get a move on. Even if witches were still not counted as players, mobs still attack them.

It almost took the whole day to get to the forest entrance. The sun was setting, and Mint didn’t want to waste any more time out in the open.

Stepping through the entrance, they felt the rush of magic coming full force, almost making them feel nauseous. Mint leaned on a tree for a minute or so till the overwhelming feeling went away.

The forest was quiet. . . that was odd, It was never that quiet.

. . .That was fine, even if there was something dangerous here, they could handle themself.

They stopped leaning against the tree, took a breath, and started looking for the Ether portal.
