“D..danchou-San!”
Momos hands were quivering as she stood tall, her legs trembling as she kept her face up.
“Danchou..San..I wanted to g-give this to you..”
Momo bowed a bit as she held her arms out, gripping tightly onto a heart shaped chocolate box.
As she breathed heavily, she seemed disappointed.
“..no good..” She mumbled, her eyes saddening as she stood back straight in front of the mirror, looking at herself.
It’s Valentine’s Day, so she was really hoping to get Kido something nice and spend the day with her. She’s been practicing ever since she woke up, there’s been angry knocking at the bathroom door by her brother, but she yelled at him and he eventually gave up.
“Ahh…will I even have time..?” Momo held back tears as she looked at herself in the mirror, hugging the chocolates to her chest.
She sighed and left the bathroom, Shintaro was waiting outside of it with an annoyed look on his face.
“Are you finally done, Momo?” Shintaro crosses his arms as Momo began to get a bit embarrassed, as Shintaro must’ve heard all of her practicing.
“Y-yeah..” she nodded a little, fixating her gaze on the floor.
“What’s wrong?” Shintaro asked, “it’s your birthday, shouldn’t you be happy?”
“..a-ah right..”
Momo completely forgot it was her birthday. She was too focused on Kido to even pay any attention.
“So? What’s up?” Shintaro asked.
“Nothing,” Momo started, backing away into her room, “no need to worry..haha!”
Momo laughed nervously, as she started to close her door. Once it was almost fully closed, Shintaro pulled it back open. Momo jumped, startled.
“Momo, I know something’s up,” Shintaro said, then walking into Momos room and closing the door, “you can’t lie to me, Y’know.”
“It’s..whatever, okay, Shintaro?” She muttered, trying to get Shintaro out. But, he wouldn’t budge.
“Is it, maybe, something about valentines day?”
Momo jumped a little again. How could he know? He can’t read minds, he doesn’t have Setos ability, does he?
She shook her head quickly, trying to shake the stupid thoughts away.
“N-no-!” Momo paused, “..I-I mean..yeah..”
Shintaro grinned, giving a “I knew it” look.
“Stop that..” Momo muttered, “it’s not funny..”
“Sorry.” Shintaro shrugged, keeping the grin planted on his face. Momo glared at him. “So, what’s the deal, Momo?”
Momo rocked back and forth before answering.
“I-I wanted to spend the day with danchou-san…b-but,” she paused, “I can’t bring myself to ask her properly..”
“Huh?” Shintaro put a hand on his hip, “I don’t think it matters to Kido how you ask, you just gotta, like, do it.”
Momo stared blankly at her brother for a moment, then spoke.
“You wouldn’t do the same?!” Momo asked, Shintaro backed away a bit.
“Well, uh…it’s different,” Shintaro paused, “you’re asking Kido, not anyone else. Kido wouldn’t care.”
“How do you know..?” Momo glared at Shintaro.
“Hm? Oh, just cause I’ve been around Kido a lot more.” Shintaro shrugs.
Momo huffs.
“Well,” Shintaro starts again, “just go for it.”
“Fine! I will!” Momo shouts, “I’ll prove you wrong!”
Shintaro grins.
“That’s the spirit, Momo.”
Momo starts to regret her decision, as she looks to the floor.
“No stopping now.” Shintaro starts pushing Momo towards the exit of her room, “you made a decision.”
Shintaro pushes Momo out of her room all the way to the stairs.
“Alright, see ya’ later, Momo.”
Before Momo could respond to her idiot brother, she hurried down the stairs and out of the house.
Walking along the sidewalk, she held onto the chocolate tightly, anxious.
She stops to take a breather at the park, but hears gentle footsteps behind her. She doesn’t mind it until it sounds like it gets closer, then closer. Momo quickly looks back to see a girl, a bit taller than her, with a purple hoodie on. Her green hair was sticking out from her hood as she smiled gently at Momo.
“D-Danchou-san-!?” Momo stuttered out.
“Happy birthday, Kisaragi.” Kido stopped walking.
Momo turned fully to Kido.
“T-thank you!” Momo said, getting a bit flustered, “I-I also got something for you..sense it’s Valentine’s Day and all..”
Kido raised an eyebrow. Momo held back her embarrassment and held her hands out, revealing the heart shaped box filled with chocolates.
“U-umm..Kisaragi-..”
“I-I wanted to give you this..!”
Kido was stunned for a moment, before hesitantly accepting the chocolates.
“Kisaragi..uh..” Kido paused, unsure of what to say, “I-uhh..also got you something..”
“Huh..?” Momo couldn’t help but mutter.
She stared at Kido for a moment, before Kido pulled out a couple of flowers and offered them to Momo.
Momo stared blankly at them before taking them quickly from Kido, her eyes lighting up in happiness.
“D-danchou-san…you didn’t have to-…”
Kido slightly smiled.
“If I didn’t get you anything, what kind of partner am I?”
Momo quickly looked to the floor, clasping her hands tightly around the flowers Kido got her, pressing her lips together from embarrassment.
“Ha..Kisaragi, you don’t have to be embarrassed okay..?”
Momo slightly looked back up at Kido, she was blushing a bit as well.
“Okay..” she muttered, Kido pulled on her hood a little.
Momo hesitated, but started walking over to Kido. Kido looked at Momo but before she could say anything, Momo wrapped her arms around Kido and hugged her.
“Thank you..!” Momo smiled.
“Eh-eh?! I-ummm..it’s no problem-!” Kido slightly hugs Momo back and smiles gently.
