Really?
Kara opens her eyes and she feels relaxed, she feels warmth, and she feels as if nothing bad had happened to her in years. She stretched her limbs before sitting up in bed, momentarily forgetting that there was someone laying right next to her. She looks beside her and there Ash sleeps. Kara sighed before getting up. She goes to the bathroom and looks at herself in the mirror, she looks a little better, a lot better actually, just a shower, brushing her teeth, and washing her face she’ll look better, physically. Her heart doesn’t ache anymore, her head doesn’t swarm with emotions, her eyes look much brighter, and she smiles. Her genuine smile. She looks up at her hair, she wants to cut it short. Wanting a new change. She takes the scissors from the draw and starts cutting.
Once done she smiles.
She turns to turn on the shower, waiting for the water to warm up, she thinks to herself, is it over? Am I healed? Does it end here? Am I still in love? Do I move on from here? What can I do? Maybe this is what I needed. I need more time. Do I need more time? Do I let her keep messing me up like this?
Questions keep floating. Kara doesn’t know how long she was standing there looking at the water until she felt a hand on her back, “You okay?” She hasn’t realized that Ash was up, didn’t hear her either coming towards the bathroom. “Oh, yeah, I was just thinking.” She looked at Ash and smiled. Ash smiled at her back, “What are you doing today?”
Kara took a deep breath, “I’ve been out of work for a while, I’m going to go back. I know that Christian has been holding down my position while I’ve been out, now it’s time for me to return and do what I do best.” Kara is in charge of Catco now, it’s been years since she received the position of owner and she still doesn’t want to change the name. It reminds her of Cat and she would like to keep it. Not that she doesn’t know another name for it.
As she turns around Ash is fully naked, her eyes open wide and her mouth falls open, “oh.”
“What?” she seductively walked toward the taller woman, “I want to take a shower with you.” The Latina said, making sure the letters roll off her tongue just how Kara likes it. “I- I- oh my.” She stuttered over her words.
“Take off your clothes and come in, beautiful,” Ash said before walking into the shower, holding the glass door open for Kara to finish taking off her clothes (clumsy) and walking right after her.
After the shower (and some sessions) Kara got ready before leaving for her work area. It’s so weird to wear her glasses again and walk as if she never went missing. She took a deep breath before opening up the door to Catco.
As she waits for the elevator she takes out her phone and turns off DND, as soon as that happens notifications start to come like a train. “Oh boy.”
She gets in the elevator and waits for it to reach her floor, she’s nervous. For the first time she went to work, everyone looked at her, and she was sweaty. She went to Cat’s office and she felt even more nervous. It’s like that all over again. But now she’s in charge. As the doors open everyone looks in shock. Kara smiled tightly and as she did so everyone smiled back and shouted, “Welcome back, boss!”
As they all greeted her she felt her genuine self back. She’s happy.
Alex got the message her sister is back, she feels a little upset that she hasn’t come to her yet and shared the news, but she’s been busy herself that her baby sister isn’t as depressed as she was months ago.
She needed that time to heal, she did think it was going to be longer but that’s okay, she’s not complaining. Alex just got done speaking with other agents about how things have been quiet and no disturbance had happened then, “If there is a disturbance or an unknown source we would let you know, Danvers.”
“Thank you.” She hangs up the call and goes over to her station, she sits and just smiles. Her sister is okay. Her happy moment didn’t last long, the alarm set off, and someone had entered the DEO. She jumps up and goes towards the cameras, they’re off. “Danvers!” She turns and everyone behind her is passing out, some type of substance is being let into the unit. She tries to go find the gas masks, but it reaches her in seconds. The last thing she said was her sister's name.
“K-Kara.”
Kara's head snapped up, “Alex.” She tells one of her assistants that she has to go. As she did so, she ran towards the window and changed before taking off. “Yes, Ms.Danver, I have it co-” Before the assistant could finish his sentence Kara was nowhere to be seen. “-verd.”
Kara rushes to the DEO and Kal-el was in there inspecting the scene. He hears her enter and turns, “Kara!” He reached her at greater speed before holding her in his hands. “I missed you.” She hugs him back. He pulls back, “And I like your hair.”
“I did, too. And yeah, I just did it this morning. But we can talk about it later, we need to find the agents and Alex.” Kara said and gave him a short smile. “Yeah, yeah uhm of course.”
Kara uses her vision to see if anyone was around and it shows a few people in other rooms, down and out. “In there.” she pointed to the room and both supers went over. Both checked all five heartbeats and showed that they are all still breathing. They went to check the others as well, and all are stable. “Sleeping spell of some sort. This could be a new being or just a group.”
“They must be a big guy, because no way they dragged them all out by one, we would’ve caught them in the act,” Kara is now confused, if there was a superhuman the DEO would be informed straight away. Or it could’ve been someone already here on this earth.
She closed her eyes and focused on Alex’s heart, Kal-el kept looking around the DEO looking and checking on others making sure they are not dead and just under a sleeping spell. Kara's eyes are still searching, relaxing her body and trying to focus on the heartbeat she's grown up to know. Suddenly her eyes opened, and she found her. Without any words she left the DEO at speed, leaving Kal-El back and confused, “Kara? Wher-” he looked around and sighed, “always leaving me behind.” He shook his head before going after Kara.
As he catches up, Kara looks at him and smiles saying, “sorry.”
Both supers had landed in front of some type of trailer department, it looked similar to a jail cell. Kal-El uses his eye vision to point out who was in there, he sees about 10 guards, two guarding each entrance, which seems pretty easy to take down and get out of there. As he looks around at the center of the room he sees two people tied, finding out one of them is in fact Alex, but who is the other person? He doesn’t know.
“Okay, there are ten guards, two guarding each entrance. I see Alex, but she is tied with another person, and there is also another woman standing over them both. It’s like she is expecting us.” he looks at Kara, and Kara is mad, he can tell.
“We do what we do best, kick some ass, interrogate, save the day.” Kara doesn’t say another word before speeding toward the trailers.
And again, Kal-El feels offended by being left behind.
As the supers get close to where Alex and the other person tied up with her, Kara comes to a stop. Kal-El is behind her after taking down three guards. He looks in her direction and sees that Lena was there, tied up and unconscious, with dry blood on her face, similar to Alex’s wound on her head. From the potion being entered into the room, they had hit their own something hard before being dragged out and brought here.
“Hey, supergirl.” Kara froze, she couldn’t move, she couldn’t think, and her heart started to pump fast every second. “No…” Alex starts to come and she looks up slowly, there is Kara and Kal-El standing there. The first thing she noticed was her hair, but Kara looked scared, nervous, and shocked.
“Ash.” She turns around and there Ash is looking at her, with a smirk on her face, that sexy smirk she came to love and enjoy, but is now more afraid of. “Supergirl? Who is this woman? And how do you know her?” Kara never told Kal-El about her secret relationship, she hasn’t told anyone and doesn’t want to tell anyone now3 since she found out she’s a villain.
“You…but how..why?” Was all Kara can muddle. Ash chuckled at the blonde, “I really did love our time together, but I needed to do what I came here to do years ago. Detective Danvers was my target to eliminate for some time, and well Lena is a Luthor, with her, her brother, and her mother gone I’ll become the greater threat to the city. Alex and you being the best “crime fighter” had to go. You were going to be first to eliminate, but you and your sexy body, voice, and everything you’ve done to me, just distracted me from my mission.”
Alex looks up at Kara, shocked by the words coming from the shorter woman. “But now I'm focused, since Alex is good at her job and knows where and what to find with just a little evidence, she would know who I am and would either kill me or would put me in jail for eternity.” She walks up to Alex and grabs her hair and pulls back, making her groan in pain. “She’ll be dead once I'm done with you super-” Once she turned her head to the blonde, Kara was already coming towards her in a blink of an eye, they both went through the steel door and landed outside.
Kal-El moved over to Alex and untied her, and Lena started to come into consciousness. She groans and opens her eyes, feeling her body being tied up she starts to struggle. “Lena, relax, we’re here to save you and Alex.” Lena heard a voice behind her, she turned to see Alex standing up from her chair and rushing to the hole in the wall. Kal-El rushed to untie Lena, and that's when they heard a swoosh from behind them, turning to see the sisters hugging each other.
Lena stood there and just looked at Kara, she hasn’t seen her in months and she looks so different.
It's been four hours after the incident and Alex had given her statement to the other detectives and so did Lena. Kara stood by Alex’s side the whole time before taking her home to Kelly and Esme. Kal-El went back to his family, which left Kara to take Lena home. Lena declined the offer and was suggesting to just calling one of her secretary guards or even Andrea to come to take her to L-corp. Kara did in fact take her to L-corp with a roll of her eyes.
After dropping her off, Kara was about to take off when she was stopped by a hand on her wrist. She turned towards Lena and raised an eyebrow. Confused. “Wha-,” before she can finish the sentence Lena pulled her into a kiss.
You got to be fucking kidding me. Kara thought.
