Fifteen
“Dude you were awesome!” Tetsutetsu congratulated Akko after class ended. She had apologised to Monoma for hitting him so hard, but she was quickly forgiven. To him it was simply her playing her part.
But to Akko, it meant more. It wasn’t acting. She had lapsed back into the mindset of a thirteen year old with nothing to lose. After school Akko walked with Kendo, Monoma, and Kaibara as they all headed for the subway station.
Akko was oddly quiet, preferring to listen than to speak.
“Hey Akko-san,” Kendo gained her attention. “You know you can call us by our first names, right? I mean it’s only fair since we use yours.” She said, Kaibara and Monoma nodding as well.
“Ah right, sorry Itsuka-chan.” Akko apologised, giving them a smile.
“So, are you heading home?” Sen asked, readjusting his bag on his shoulder. Akko shook her head.
“Nah, I’m going to spend the night in Shibuya with friends. It’s been a while since we could hang out.” She replied. Her friends nodded in understanding as they reached the station and had to go their separate ways.
Sitting on the subway, Akko plugged in her earbuds and drowned out the silence with heavy metal. Someone sat on her left, and while she was originally planning to ignore him, a UA uniform jacket caught her eye and she turned to look at who had sat beside her.
It was a boy with unruly purple hair and eye bags. From the buttons on his shoulders she could tell he was from the General Department.
Feeling eyes on him, Shinsou Hitoshi looked up from his phone to see the girl he sat next to staring at him. Studying him. He had originally sat next to her because she too was from UA, but he didn’t recognise her.
“Bakugou Akko, Hero Department student, you’re from the General Studies department, right?” She introduced herself. He froze. How did she know?
“Yeah… Shinsou Hitoshi. How did you know that?” He asked. Akko pointed to the shoulder of his jacket.
“The buttons indicate which department you’re in. One for the hero course, two close together for support, two with a gap for general, and three for management.” She explained, showing her own jacket which had only one button on the shoulder.
“That’s weird you know that.” Shinsou hummed.
“That’s true,” Akko chuckled. “So Shinsou-san, do you live in Shibuya?” She asked.
“Yeah.” Shinsou replied with a nod. He was relieved that she hadn’t asked his quirk or why he wasn’t in the hero course. The two fell into a comfortable silence as they waited.
Eventually the train reached its destination and the two exited together. Spotting her friends, Akko bid Shinsou farewell and jogged over to Seiken who had gone to pick her up.
“Want to drive?” Seiken asked once they were out of the station and to his bike. Akko’s eyes lit up and she nodded. Seiken gave her the keys and she climbed onto the bike first with Seiken getting on behind her and wrapping his arms around her torso.
Unbeknownst to them, Shinsou watched from afar, wondering what made him stand out enough for her to acknowledge his presence. Sighing and shaking his head, Shinsou headed home.
“A-cchi!” The dual-haired teen was jumped by Kyo and Anri, the two siblings having missed the presence of their self-proclaimed older sister. Said duallette chuckled and received the hugs with no complaints. Once she was released, she turned to the two others awaiting their turn. She hugged Yuuko first, before hugging Izana. The hug lasted only a few seconds, but it felt longer.
Once they pulled away from each other the group went up to the lounge. Akko loosened her tie and unbuttoned the first three buttons of her button down after slipping her UA jacket off.
“Do you want to change into something more comfortable?” Yuuko asked the duallette.
Akko turned to her, “If you have any hoodies, that’d be nice. The skirt is actually pretty comfortable.” Yuuko nodded and went back down the stairs. She came back with a grey hoodie with yellow writing that reads “Ray of Fucking Sunshine” in English. Chuckling at the hoodie, the dual-haired teen excused herself to the bathroom where she removed her button-down and put on the hoodie.
The tattooed teen put her shirt and tie in her backpack before rejoining the others. She sat between Anri and Kyo, who both clinged to her as if she was going to disappear any minute.
“So, how was Hero Studies today?” Izana spoke up once everyone was settled.
“Good, I got to fight my classmates,” Akko replied with a grin. “I won, by the way.” Anri and Kyo squealed as they squeezed the poor girl’s arms. Akko didn’t mind though, they weren’t very strong.
“What’s it like being taught by All Might?” Seiken asked, once the squealing ceased. Akko seemed to perk up at the mention of the number one hero.
"It's interesting, that's for sure," She chucked. "Today he had to use a script for class. He's very…" The teen trailed off, as if she was looking for the correct word to use to describe All Might's teaching skills. "...inexperienced." Izana and Yuuko chuckled at her decription of the pro she clearly idolised.
"Well, we do eventually have to clear out of here," Yuuko spoke up after some idle chatter. "Want to all head over to my house for the night? My mom is overseas in America for a few weeks so it'd just be us six." She offered. The group agreed and they cleaned up for the night before heading out to the bikes. Seiken and Yuuko climbed onto the former's bike while Izana let Akko drive his as he climbed on behind her. Kyo climbed onto their bike that they shared with their sister.
The group headed out to Yuuko's house which was closer to Minato City, Tokyo than Shibuya City. Once they got to the house the group settled in the living room and decieded to go through the Tatchibana Family movie collection to find a good movie to put on. Finding a horror movie titled Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Akko's interest was immediately piqued. If there was anything she loved more than fighting it was horror movies. The group agreed to watching the movie, Yuuko and Anri disappearing into the kitchen to make popcorn.
"Hey Zana-cchi, can I use your card to buy pizza?" Kyo asked, looking up from their phone.
"Why me?" Izana groaned, but he opened his wallet and handed the nonbinary teen his credit card.
Akko decided to reply to the whitenette's rhetorical question. "Because you're a pushover, Zana-nii." She grinned up at the tan skinned boy she had laid her head on the lap of. Said teen let out a mock offened gasp as he held a hand over his heart in a "you hurt me" type fashion.
"How dare you, I trusted you Ko." He scoffed, jokingly shoving the teen off his lap. Akko landed on the carpeted floor with a grunt as Kyo gasped.
"How dare you hurt my sister!" They huffed, standing from their seat and walking over to Akko as if they were a greiving sibling walking to thier deceased sibling who had been shot in front of them.
"Avenge me Ko-cchi." Akko jokingly said, as if she were taking her last breath. Seiken, who stayed silent throughout the whole ordeal, chuckled at the show in front of him.
"What the hell happened in here." Yuuko's voice brought the four's attention to the two who had rejoined them in the living room. Anri looked concerned at seeing Akko laying on the floor with her sibling sitting next to her with her head in their lap. Yuuko just looked confused and disappointed.
"Zana-nii shoved me off his lap after I called him a pushover." Akko replied, pointing an accusatory finger at the whitenette. Anri giggled at the realisation of what happened before walking over to the dramatic duallette.
"C'mon drama queen. You can lay your head in Kyo's lap on the couch." She nudged the vermillion eyed teen with her foot until she stood up. Kyo followed and took their position on the couch. Anri sat beside her and Akko laid on top of the two of them, her head in Kyo's lap and her feet in Izana's. Neither of the three teens minded, she did this all the time. Seiken and Yuuko sat on the loveseat after Yuuko placed the popcorn bowl on the table in the middle of the room as she started the video.
Twenty minutes into the movie pizza arrived and Akko got up to answer the door. She took the pizza and soda's from the delivery man. She gave her thanks and returned to her friends. The group ate as the movie continued.
