Akko didn’t return home until around midnight and found her brother waiting for her. He had fallen asleep, but Katsuki was still sitting on the couch.
Closing the door behind her as silently as she could, Akko placed her house keys on the hook on the wall and her bag on the floor by the stairs before taking her shoes off and placing them by the door.
The dual-haired teen walked over to her brother and smiled to herself at the sight of his sleeping form. Taking a seat beside Katsuki, Akko laid her head on his shoulder, effectively waking him up without realising it.
“Akko?” Katsuki whispered, his husky voice bringing comfort to his older twin.
“Shut up, ‘m tired.” Akko huffed. Rolling his eyes, Katsuki shifted his position so that he could stand and pick her up. He turned the light off in the living room and began to climb the stairs. Akko had already fallen asleep in his arms by the time the two reached his room and Katsuki had to be careful when opening the door.
He placed his older twin on his bed and turned the lamp off before joining her. Unconsciously, Akko grabbed onto her twin and hugged him in her sleep. It didn’t take long for Katsuki to doze off either.
The next day Akko woke up to the feeling of someone breathing on her neck. Her eyes blinked open and she came face-to-face with her twin’s unruly hair. Noticing that she was being used as his personal body pillow, she attempted to remove herself from his grip.
She was successful and grumbled to herself when she noticed she was still in her school uniform. Glancing at Katsuki’s alarm clock, she noticed that it was 5:30am meaning she had 30 minutes before her twin woke up.
Going through his clothes, she stole one of his hoodies and a pair of sweatpants before changing into them and leaving his room, shutting the door silently behind her. Akko made her way to her room across the hall, and feeling like skipping for the day, she placed her uniform in the laundry basket and flopped down on her bed.
She spent the next half hour thinking about how she could skip, when her thoughts were interrupted by a sneeze. Akko had just sneezed. Rubbing her nose, she was startled by her door being slammed open by her mother.
“Akko! Are you sick?” Mitsuki asked, approaching her daughter with a concerned look. Deadpanning, Akko couldn’t help but be reminded of when she got sick in her past life and Shinichiro threatened to break her phone if she didn’t stay in bed.
Shaking her thoughts away, she tried to calm her mother down, but another sneeze cut her off.
“That’s it, you’re staying home.” Mitsuki’s tone clearly told her that she would be taking no bullshit. Sighing as her mother left her room, Akko laid back down on her bed. At least I don’t have to think of an excuse to stay home. Akko nearly snorted at the thought.
Grabbing her phone from the pocket of Katsuki’s hoodie, she sent a text to her friends to let them know that she probably wasn’t going to make it unless her mother decided to go to work instead of staying home with her. A few minutes later, that question was answered as Mitsuki popped her head in the door.
“Your father and I are leaving for work sweetie, make sure you get plenty of rest.” Mitsuki informed before she closed the door once more and left.
