Chapter 5

"This is stupid" Sara locks her arm with Felicity's as they walk on the busy sidewalk "We just spent two hours on that store"

"And it was worthy, we found you the perfect dress"

"That is the stupid part. Since when do I care this much about what to wear on a date?"

"Since you care this much about the girl you are going on the date with it"

"We already slept together, a hundred times. I have no reason to be this nervous about it"

Felicity smiles knowingly "Yeah but this date, it's you telling her you want more than casual...You know, Nyssa adores you and if she has any doubts about it, that dress will help her make up her mind. Especially if you pair with those black heels with the straps, the one with the little sparks on it"

"I think those are at Laurel's, I will call her later...Speaking of dates, when am I going to help you find the perfect dress for a date?"

"Me? I'm not planning on going on any dates any time soon. You know I am 100% focused on Smoak Tech right now"

"On Smoak Tech and spending time with the Queen boys….especially Oliver. I was expecting a date to come out of that for a long time now or the Kord’s party was your first date?"

Felicity adjusts her glasses "No, we are just friends. He is not interested in me like that"

Sara snorts "You should tell him to stop looking at you the way he does then. Because it tells a different story" She looks down at her watch "Shit! I promised my dad I would meet him, want to come? He will forget all about my lateness if I bring you"

"Sorry you will have to bear the sermon. I will just get a coffee and head back to the office"

Sara pouts and hugs Felicity who asks "Lunch tomorrow? I want all the date details"

"Let wine on stand by if it goes badly, I will go straight to your place"

Felicity can't help a hint of jealousy, of the excitement and nervousness that comes with getting ready for a date, after Ray she dated but never seriously. She didn't open herself for more than casual. But now she has these butterflies  and maybe "Oh I am so sorry" Felicity says, taking a step back after almost bumping into someone coming down the stairs of the coffee shop.

"It's fine" The woman looks up "Hi Felicity" she says in a high pitched voice.

"Hi Laurel" Felicity crosses her arms in front of her, feeling like she needs a shield "How are you doing?"

Laurel smiles, standing on the last step looking down at Felicity, dressed perfectly as always, only Laurel could make a pantsuit look that good, a briefcase in one hand, a trade with two cups of coffee in the other, the gorgeous lawyer ready to save the world.

"I am doing great” Laurel flips her hair over her shoulder ”You know Felicity, I’ve been meaning to thank you. Oliver tells me you are a big part on making the move back easier, babysitting William is of great help and we need it"

Felicity swallows the lump on her throat "William is great"

"We really appreciate Felicity. Sorry, I have to go, I am on my way to QC and I don't want to keep Ollie waiting, we are looking over apartments. Wish us luck"

Felicity walks into the coffee shop but is not really in the mood for it anymore. She now has a bitter taste in her mouth, a sinking feeling in the place of the butterflies.

"I mean if you do it in the bathroom of the restaurant, I think we can call the date successfully" Felicity says while putting the dressing over her salad. Sara refuses to indulge her love of junk food, the other blond chose the healthiest option on her way to the Smoak Tech office.

"We also did when we got home and again this morning" Sara says with a grin, proud of herself.

"Ok, now you're just rubbing in my lack of action. Was that any talk between the exchange of fluids?

"Yeah" Sara snorts, Felicity has a way to say weird things in the most adorable way.

Watching her friends blush, Felicity lets out a squeak "Ownn Sara Lance, in a serious monogamous relationship. I thought I would never see the day"

"All it took was to find the right person"

"I am happy for you Sar '' Sara never showed any discontent with her no attachment rule before but there is a sparkle in her eyes Felicity has never seen before.

"And I could be just as happy for you, if you stop being stupid and ask Oliver out"

"I told you is not like that"

"Are you holding back? Do you think less of him because of his history with more than half of the female population of Starling? Or my history with him?" She asks embarrassed "We were stupid kids, we are not those people anymore" Fear takes over Sara, what if she is still that dumb kid playing games with other people's feelings, if she was capable of acting like that with her own sister she may not deserve to be happy, to have Nyssa.

Felicity reaches over placing her hand over Sara's giving a squeeze "Stop that was a lifetime ago, you are not that person anymore"

Sara breathes out a little embarrassed of her little freak out "Neither is Oliver"

"I know, He is great, just not into me." Felicity sits back, shrugging "We spend so much time together, half of that time without William. If he was he would already said something"

"Ugh you're killing me Smoak, that man is head over heels for you...You have nothing to be afraid of"

"I am not afrai" The word dies in her mouth, she couldn’t even convince herself of that lie.

Sara gives her a sympathetic smile.

"I bumped into Laurel yesterday, literally bumped into her....She referred to me as William's babysitter, she thanked me on Oliver's behalf. That it's how he sees me"

Sara sighs she knows her sister's tactics all too well "Felicity, I won't deny that Laurel is chasing Oliver and she is persistent, is what makes her a damn good lawyer. But her only chance of getting him is with you out of the picture. I mean Oliver banging his head and forgetting your existence type out of the picture" Felicity snorts "You keep saying you are fine on your own but when you close yourself for fear you also miss all the happiness that someone new can bring to your life"

"When did you become so wise in the matters of the heart?"

"Right about the time my best friend told me to stop being a coward and tell the woman I love that I love her" Sara tips her head towards Felicity throwing her own words back at her.

"Oh that friend sounds the worst" Felicity says, mocking.

Sara throws a napkin at her and the two fall into a fit of giggles. A throat being clean makes them both look at the office's door.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt, your assistant is not out here" Oliver says shifting his weight from foot to foot, not knowing if he should have just left after he heard voices, meaning she had company.

"Oh he went out for lunch. Please come in, join us?" Felicity smiles bright.

Sara smiles at blush forming on Felicity cheeks as she speaks, almost the same shade as her dress.

"I don't want to intrude. I had lunch with Thea at Jitters and they had mint chip, I thought I bring you"

"My favorite" Felicity adjusts her glasses with a shy smile.

"I will leave it here and go." He walks over to the coffee table, placing a brown paper bag on it.

"No Ollie" Oliver blinks a couple of times as he is just now realizing that Felicity was not the only person in the room "Stay. I was on my way out anyway, I got in late this morning so I have to take a short lunch today. You kids enjoy the desert" She says with an insinuating tone, winking at them.

Before she closes the door she looks at the pair seated beside each other, Oliver passing a spoon to her, while Felicity asks about his day, a soft smile plays on Oliver's face as Felicity closes her eyes at the flavor.

That joy shared by being with each other it's only a matter of time before one of them can resist in making the first move and Sara finds it as infuriating as adorable to watch.
