Chapter 2

"What were the animals creating the blockage? Some kind of badger?"" Blossompaw asked after Dovepaw slumped into her nest.
"No, beavers." Dovepaw replied rather wearily looking as if they were on the brink of sleep.
"Sorry I told you you were making it up, it just sounded unrealistic, that's all." Apologised Blossompaw.
"It's ok Blossompaw," Dovepaw replied letting out a small purr before falling asleep. It didn't take long for Blossompaw to follow suit.

-----------------------

Blossompaw looked at Dovepaw affection in her eyes, "I love you Dovepaw."
Dovepaw purred, "I love you too!"

Blossompaw was whisked back to reality and awoke in her nest. That's the second time in three days that I've had a dream like that. I really need help!

Blossompaw left the den to be greeted immediately by Ivypaw, "Hi Blossompaw! Have you noticed Bumblepaw has been following my sister? Do you think he has even a sliver of hope?"

"It's more likely that Shadowclan gives Thunderclan territory than Dovepaw ever liking Bumblepaw! I can already see the tears on his face." Blossompaw joked.

”I don’t see any good coming from this, only sadness, for Bumblepaw of course!” Ivypaw mewed, “Speaking of Bumblepaw here he is.”

Bumblepaw stared at the two she-cats for a second before mumbling something incoherent and stalking off.

------------------------

"Hi Blossompaw, Lionblaze is sick so he told me to go with you and Hazeltail today, do you know what we're doing?" Dovepaw asked a newly awoken Blossompaw.

"I think I heard her mention hunting yesterday but I'm not sure," replied Blossompaw, still slightly perturbed by this early awakening but didn't want Dovepaw to think any less of her so she continued, "As long as it's not the dawn patrol I'm happy!" I really need to stop these feelings or she's going to be able to convince me to eat crow-food!

"You would've been told if it was the dawn patrol yesterday mousebrain!" Dovepaw laughed.

----------------------

"Ivypaw quick! Bumblepaw told me that he's going to tell Dovepaw and we have to watch!" Blossompaw mewed hurriedly, "Are you coming or not?!"

Blossompaw and Ivypaw raced out of camp following Bumblepaw's scent to the edge of the lake where they saw Bumblepaw sitting and waiting impatiently. Suddenly Dovepaw emerged from the bushes, "You wanted to talk to me?”

“Yeah, over the last few moons I’ve come to think of you more than a friend, do you feel the same?” Bumblepaw asked hope in his eyes.

”Oh, I umm, no. I think of you as a friend and nothing more, and that will never change.”

Blossompaw and Ivypaw looked gleefully on at the situation unfolding before them.

Bumblepaw visibly sank after hearing Dovepaw’s words, “I thought we had something special…” He muttered before stalking of into the undergrowth.

“Bumblepaw calm down, you’ll get over it soon!” Blossompaw pleaded.

”I can’t understand why she doesn’t feel the same way!” Bumblepaw cried out.

”I don’t think she feels that way about anyone!” Blossompaw replied, “And I don’t think she ever will,” she added quietly.

Pawsteps approached the two of them and Blossompaw looked up to see Briarpaw looking sympathetically at Bumblepaw understanding the pain he was feeling.

”I’ve tried my best but I can’t get him to feel better, could you try? He’s meant to be on patrol soon and Hazeltail wants to do some battle training with me so I can’t look after him.”

When Blossompaw returned to camp she was pleased, Briarpaw had managed to get Bumblepaw on his patrol and the fresh-kill pile was well stocked. She had just begun to settle down when an ear splitting crack sounded out over the hollow. Suddenly, in the corner of her eye she spotted a tree falling towards the elders den. That's where Briarpaw is!

A grey streak flashed before her eyes barging through the well groomed pelt of Briarpaw and taking them both to safety.

She instantly recognised the cat to be Dovepaw.
