Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr - "I Think I'm In Love With You And I'm Terrified"
"I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.” The words came out in a blather, something Erik had been hiding for months now, something he’d never wanted to admit. He rested against the wall, energy depleted. Staring at Charles, silently begging him to be quick about it, quick with the rejection so he could get over this inane crush.
Crush. Erik was lying to himself. He needed Charles. Charles was perfect, everything he’d ever wanted. And it was terrifying.
Charles finally got his mouth to close. The angry words on the tip of his tongue, the accusations of recklessness, of impulsiveness, all died on his tongue. Erik was observing him from the shadows. He bit his lip. He would’ve closed his eyes, if he wasn’t sure Erik would take that as rejection.
“I didn’t know,” he said finally.
Erik laughed hollowly.
Charles frowned and stepped towards him. “I,” he hesitated. “You don’t think I want you too?”
Erik looked down. “Charles,” he said softly.
Charles crossed the distance between them, planting his hands on the sides of Erik’s helmet, pulling him in for a kiss.
Erik froze, then his hands made his way to Charles’ hips. “Don’t,” he whispered against Charles’ neck, trailing kisses down his neck despite his objections.
“I’m not placating you,” Charles promised. “I’ve wanted this since I first touched your mind.” It felt a relief to admit it.
Erik sighed against him, pulling him close. “Charles.”
Charles gave a soft smile. “Stay,” he pleaded. “We’ll work this out.”
Erik examined him for a moment, then gave a curt nod. But his words were breathy. “I don’t-”
Charles kissed him again. “I love you too.”
