"You can’t protect me.”
Angie folded her arms. “This is ridiculous. You shouldn’t be going. You can’t go.”
Peggy finished buttoning up her blouse. “This is my job.”
“Yeah, well…” Angie gave a laugh in place of hesitating. “You should get a new job.”
Peggy shot her her most winning smile. “I did. My old job was much more dangerous.” She stepped over and kissed the side of Angie’s face. “And you promised you’d be understanding.”
Angie scoffed. “I didn’t think you’d be going out on dangerous missions like this. You’re the one who tells me I listen to too many radio shows.”
Peggy smiled again. “Well, I suppose there are some bits of truth in them.”
Angie pulled a face. “Promise you’ll be back soon?’
“Promise,” Peggy told her, kissing her again.
