Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr - "You Know, It's Okay To Cry"
“You know, it’s okay to cry.”
Erik was sitting on the edge of his bed as Charles said the words from the doorway. Charles could only see his back.
Erik tilted his head, not looking at Charles. “Who said I was upset?”
Charles sighed. “I am a telepath.” Not that it wasn’t written in his face, his words, his demeanor. “It wasn’t your fault.”
“Of course not,” Erik agreed. “I am only accountable for my own actions, and the responses that come from those actions.”
Charles wanted to hit his head against the wall. “Erik, please.”
“Is there something you want?” Erik’s tone was all professional. “I do believe this is my bedroom, rather than the common room. If you’re looking for idle chat I’m sure someone else would be happy to oblige.”
“I’m here to talk,” Charles said carefully.
“Thank you.”
The door shut behind Charles and Erik let himself collapse on the bed.
He’d been crying since Charles gave him permission.
