Chapter 1
Azula stared at Mai, her beta, one of the only people on earth she trusted.
“I never expected this from you of all people. My beta. My closest confidant.”
Mai kept her steeled expression ever in control the beta did not bow to Azula’s words. A first.
“The thing I don't understand is why? Why would you do it? You know the consequences of treason.”
Ty-lee stepped in there, ever the peacekeeper between the two firey women, she did her best, as omegas always did, to soothe the situation. “I am sure Mai had a very good reason for what she did. Right, Mai?”
Mai ignored their omega staring straight at Azula with that coldness she always seemed to wear. “ I have stood by you, fought for you, put my feelings aside for you. But you don’t know me as well as you think you do, Azula.” The female alpha’s gaze hardened. Mai had not been permitted to call her anything other than princess or alpha since the day that she presented as an alpha. Mai paid her no mind though, amber eyes moving to their omega between them, almost pleading with her when she said: “We’ve watched her chaos grow…” Ty-lee seemed conflicted wanting to go to her beta but before she could Azula grabbed her arm and pulled her back to stand behind her just as she always had. Only this time it wasn't her choice to do so.
Mai rolled her eyes, her emotional walls back up in an instant. “Don't be so exaggerated because you miscalculated.”
“NO, you miscalculated!” Azula snarled lightning dancing at her fingertips, her sanity beginning to unravel.
“If today I fall, I hope it’s a wake-up call. I'll do what I have to do. For I love her more than I Fear you.”
That was the final straw, Azula growled launching herself at her beta but before she could get in a hit her omega, sweet innocent Ty-Lee was attacking her from the side, using her chi-blocking abilities to render her immobile.
“Run Mai!” Ty-lee yelled at her beta as she raced towards the fire nation guards coming to defend their princess.
Mai paused for only a second before making her escape.
