Heavy grunting and laborious breathing filled the hangar as Brigitte unloads the last of the armor from the old truck. Of course, it would have been a lot easier to unload if Reinhardt had been present; but when Brigitte saw the look in his eyes when he greeted his old friends at Watchpoint: Gibraltar, she told him she could handle the unload on her own. Besides, she could use a bit of a breather. Everyone was thrilled to see Brigitte. Many of the members watched her grow from a little girl. Papa had brought her to Watchpoint often when she was growing up, and Papa and Reinhardt had talked about her constantly when she wasn’t there. She chuckled to herself as she placed the last of his armor onto Papa’s old work bench. He had greeted them at the gates with Winston and many of the other members, but she could catch up with him later. Truthfully, it was a conversation she wasn’t looking forward to, given his stance on Brigitte joining Overwatch.
The redhead sighed and got to work organizing her area of the hangar they used as a mechanic’s shop. She stood her armor and Reinhardt’s on a stand. That’s when she noticed the giant pink mech across the hangar. How she had missed it backing the truck in, she would never understand. It was a work of art, state of the art machinery built for fighting off omnics by the South Korean government. This particular one belonged to none other than D.Va herself, the famous Hana Song. What was it doing here? Brigitte couldn’t fight the pull of the mech as she crossed the hangar, stars in her eyes.
She examined every inch of the machine, marveling at the advanced systems and brilliant engineering that caused it to work. She had never been able to see schematics for a MEKA mech, being as they were top secret. It took her breath away. Not to mention Brigitte was a HUGE fan of D.Va, having watched almost every single one of her streams. Wait, if Tokki was here, did that mean…
“Like what you see?” A high-pitched voice asked from behind Brigitte. No. It wasn’t possible. Brigitte turned around and all the color left her face as she saw the Hana Song standing behind her. Brigitte stood frozen, unable to function. Was she breathing? Where was she again? “Are you okay?” Hana asked, a slight tone of amusement in her voice. “I’m gay! I-I mean great! I meant great…” Brigitte stammered, blushing bright red and staring a hole through the floor of the hangar. Hana, for her part, handled the situation very well. And by that, I mean she laughed so hard she was wheezing. “I’m sorry for invading your space,” Brigitte said, her voice little more than a whisper at this point. “I’ll get out of your hair.” ‘and go die in a hole,’ Brigitte thought as she turned to walk away.
“No! No, no need to run off,” Hana said, catching her breath finally. “You can look at Tokki all you want. She deserves the respect and adoration. I didn’t mean to cause you to panic, I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m Hana,” Hana said, holding her hand toward Brigitte. Brigitte took the hand and shook it, still blushing incredibly hard. “I’m Brigitte,” she said. Recognition flashed on Hana’s face. “Oh! You’re Torb’s kid, right? That’s all he’s talked about since I got here. He mentioned you were a fan.,” she said, Hana giving Brigitte a wink. Brigitte might actually die of embarrassment. “Yes, I am. I- um, well I don’t yell my sexuality to just anyone I meet,” she joked, trying to salvage the situation a little. Hana giggled, and it was the most heavenly sound Brigitte had ever heard.
“I hear you’re quite the engineer, and have been working with Crusader armor. I could show you Tokki and her schematics, but only if you promise to help me work on her sometimes,” Hana said with a smile. Brigitte’s face lit up. “Yes, please! I have been dying to see MEKA schematics, but they’re so secretive. Your engine core has to be stupidly efficient to power the mech. I’d love that,” Brigitte said, her embarrassment finally dying off. “Awesome,” Hana said. “I can see you’re pretty busy; maybe tomorrow we can meet up for breakfast?”
Brigitte waited for Hana to laugh again, but when Hana arched her eyebrow waiting for a response she was taken aback. “Wait, really? I mean, yeah! I’d love to!” Brigitte said. “Okay, I’ll meet you in the cafeteria at 8 in the morning! Don’t be late!” Hana said as she walked out of the hangar. Brigitte nearly passed out from the butterflies in her stomach and her head reeling from the encounter.

Hana sat at the table in the cafeteria with a steaming mug of hot cocoa in front of her. It was 7:58, and that Swedish goddess was supposed to meet her at 8. Hana had watched Brigitte unload all of that armor from the truck, her muscles flexing as she moved the heavy equipment. The pictures Torbjorn had shown Hana didn’t do Brigitte justice; her beauty could never be so easily captured. As her phone clock switched over to 8 am, Brigitte walked through the door. Exactly on time, very nice. Hana waved as Brigitte looked around, catching her attention. “Good morning,” Hana chirped with a smile. “Good morning,” Brigitte said as she sat across the table from Hana. “So, did you want to eat real quick and then I can study the schematics, or what were you thinking?” Brigitte asked. Hana looked at her, slightly puzzled. ‘Oh,” Hana thought, ‘she thought I asked her here to look at Tokki.’ “Actually,” Hana said out loud, “I was just hoping we could hang out. There’s a really cute café in town that has amazing breakfast, and I was hoping you’d go with me? Sorry, I wasn’t really asking you out to talk about my mech,” she said with a giggle. “Oh that-“ Brigitte started but stopped mid-sentence.
“Are- are you asking me out?” Brigitte asked. Hana couldn’t help but giggle at the tall redhead. “I mean, yeah, kinda,” Hana said. Brigitte blushed a very deep red. She opened and shut her mouth four times. Hana was worried she had broken her, and blushed herself. “It’s totally okay if you don’t want to…” Hana said. “No!” Brigitte said very loudly, earning some stares from the other people in the cafeteria. She cleared her voice and spoke in a much softer tone. “I would love to, Hana. I just… didn’t think you’d be interested in someone like me,” Brigitte said, rubbing the back of her neck. Hana was dumbfounded.
“Someone like you?” Hana asked. Brigitte shrugged. “Yeah, I mean, you’re Hana Song, celebrity war hero. You could probably date anyone in the entire world. I’m just… me. Kind of plain,” Brigitte said. Hana got a little upset, but she tried not to show it. “You’re right, you are just you. A stunning goddess of a woman who happens to be adorable and have an amazingly warm personality. I know we haven’t known each other long, but you’re an amazing person who I want to get to know. If anyone says otherwise, point them out to me,” Hana said. Brigitte’s blush somehow managed to grow deeper. Hana smiled again, holding out her hand as she stood from the table. Brigitte took it and stood with her. “Thank you,” Brigitte said. Hana arched an eyebrow at her. “For the compliments; I’m not really hard on myself, I just never expected a cute girl like you to be attracted to me. I’m kinda new to the whole dating thing. Traveling the world with Reinhardt didn’t leave a lot of free time,” Brigitte explained. Hana squeezed her hand and walked happily next to Brigitte. “Good, then let me be the first to show you what it’s like,” Hana said, pulling Brigitte’s hand to her lips for a quick kiss. When Brigitte blushed and looked at her feet, Hana knew this would be the first of many, many dates with this beautiful woman.
