Summary
Moaning myrtle x olive HornbyEnemies to loversSad ending. The love story between to girls who were destined for tragedy from the start but loved each other anyways.

Myrtle Warren, a muggle born, a ravenclaw. Olive Hornby, a pure -blood, a slytherin. They were destined for tragedy from the start but the time they shared together made it a little more bearable.

It was September first when myrtle first laid eyes on her. A beautiful young girl with long straight blonde hair and the bluest eyes that could rival the clear sky's. She walked with poise and carried herself as if she knew she belonged here, at Hogwarts. Even at the age of eleven, it seemed that this girl had all the confidence a person could dream of.

Then there was myrtle. The girl with wavy chocolate brown hair with a set of warm brown eyes hidden behind a pair of horn rimmed glasses to match. She turned in on herself, not quite believing that this was where she was meant to be. She didn't have the confidence that she craved to possess even if it was just a fraction.

As her years in Hogwarts passed, she watched as the girl she loved, chased after another. A man name Tom Riddle. He walked with the same confident stride that olive seemed to carry herself with. He was handsome and had all of the girls chasing after him. Of course olive would want him instead of a nerdy geek with ugly glasses.

Myrtle would find herself staring across the great Hall, just to get a glimpse of the girl's beautiful face. She had tried to talk to her once in her second year, but olive's friends had bullied her, reducing her to tears. She often found herself at the end of relentless bullying and teasing after that.

Olive had never said anything to myrtle herself, but she never stood up for her either.

Sometimes their eyes would meet across the classroom, or across the hall but olive was always the first to look away.

It wasn't until the end of their third year that the two lovestruck girls had talked to one another.

Olive had found myrtle in the library sitting alone. She had seen myrtle come in here a few hours ago as she walked by with her friends. Olive had tried to ditch them but it wasn't until they found Tom, that she was able to slip away.

Olive walked over to the table and sat down in front of the one person who had truly caught her eye and waited until she was noticed.

She sat there for five minutes before myrtle looked up from the book she was reading. When she did her eyes went wide at the sight of one of her biggest bully's.

"What do you want Hornby? Come to laugh at my glasses again?" Myrtle asked.

"No. I came to apologise for all the nasty things my friends said."

"Some friends they are." Myrtle mumbled.

" The truth is I'm afraid of them. If what they could do, or what they could say to my parents. My parents won't take kindly to finding out that I talk to a muggleborn."

"Then why are you talking to me now?" Myrtle asked.

"Because I find you fascinating. There's something about you that caught my attention all the way back in first year and I just can't get you out of my head." She whispered back.

Olive looked around to make sure no one was watching before she reached her hand over and placed it in top of Myrtle's.

"Listen I can't say anymore here but meet me at the astronomy tower at midnight. Please." That was the last thing she said before she walked out of the library.

Myrtle spent the rest of the day debating with herself on whether or not she should go. This girl had just stood by and let her get teased by her friends. But the idea of being alone with her was tempting, she wanted to her her out. Myrtle's heart was saying yes, but her head was saying no.

Eventually myrtle found herself climbing up the steps of the astronomy tower, her heart was racing but she wouldn't go back now.

There see was standing in the moonlight. Myrtle found her breath being taken away at the sight. She felt as though she could stand there and look at her for hours.

It took a few moments for olive to turn around but when she did, their eyes met across the room and they both stood there staring at the most beautiful thing in their world. The stars above twinkled with secrets and the tragic fate that these two would face but the moon took pity on them and outshone the stars, creating moonbeams that shone down on the two girls.

finally, Olive seemed to snap out of it. "thank you for coming. I wasn't sure if you would."

"I didn't think I would be here either." mertle answered truthfully.

"I know I apologised earlier, but I wanted to apologise again. my friends have been terribly rude to you and I have done nothing about it."

mertle stood there listening to Olive talk about wanting friendship, and possibly more. It was what she dreamed about but the next thing that came out of Olive's mouth made her heart sink.

"we have to remain a secret. myrtle you have to understand. If my parents find out, I will never be able to talk to you ever again." Myrtle did understand. she understood the difficulties that olive would face but it didn't make her feel any better about being soomebody's secret.

"I understand."

later, the two girls found themselves sitting side by side bathing in the moonlight and watching the sunrise. their hands had found their way to eachother at some point but neither girl wanted to let go. the two girls sat in silence as the rising sun cast an orange glow across the grounds.

when the sun had fully risen, the girls whispered quiet goodbyes and promises to see eachother later that night.

Myrtle could not contain the happiness inside her as she made her way back to her dormatory. her roomates noticed her smile and how nothing could make it shine any less bright, for she had had an amazing night and was excited for another one tonight.

across the great hall, Olive's eyes forun Myrtles and they shared a bright secret smile, just for the two of them, but so bright and genuine. Olive turned back to her friends who sat beside her and Myrtle went back to reading the book she brought with her but both girls were thinking about what would come later that evening.

and so, later that evening came and once again Myrtle walked up to the astronomy tower and found Olive standing in the moonlight staring out into the grounds. this is how their next few months at Hogwarts went, with secret meetings and hands held in one another's. where soft whispers flowed out into the air where they would be lost to everyone but the two who share them.

And still, the stars above continued to twinkle brightly, brighter than the future of the two girls who now sat below them.

it was the day before christmas holidays were to start and Myrtle was to go home. Olive had found her in the library earlier that day and asked her to meet her up in the astronomy tower, casually touching Myrtles shoulder, which was unnessicary but not unwelcome. Myrtle had agreed before the question had even registered in her brain. that's how she found herself making the familiar walk up the stairs to the tallest tower of the castle, with a small gift in her hands.

And, like every other time, Olive was already there, this time with a gift box of her own. When Olive turned around and faced Mrytle, a large grin spead across her face and her eyes lit up, brighter than the stars above. Mrytle walked over to Olive and pulled her into a warm hug. the two stood in the embrace for far longer than was needed. As they pulled apart, they exchanged gifts with the strict orders of not opening them until christmas.

as the girls sat watching the school grounds, they moved closer and closer until they were touching eachother. Myrtle turned her head to talk to Olive but already found Olive looking at her. they were so close together that Olive could see herself refelcted in Mrytle's glasses.

Olive's breath fanned across Mrytle's face and suddenly she forgot what she was going to say, her heartbeat grew faster and her cheeks warmed, turning a light shade of pink.

neither of them knew who had leaned in first but as their lips collided, neither of them cared for they both had been longing for this for a long time. That night was filled with more small kisses, shared between them, something to keep for themselves. the next morning they woke up in eachothers embrace and they could both confidently say that it was the best night of their lives.

the next day Mrytle walked down to the station waiting to board the Hogwarts Express. Her head turned left and right trying to find the one girl she wanted to see for the rest of her life but she couldn't find her. she waited until the last moment to board the train, hoping that her love would find her but she was unlucky. as the train made it's way back to london Mrytle tried to think of last night, hoping to keep the good memories. she thought about the way she felt wrapped up in her lovers arms and the way her lips tingled with every small shared kiss between them.

Mrytle stepped off the train after it pulled into kings cross station and made her way to the barrier. with her luggage in hand, she crossed through and spotted her family waiting for her. Her mother was wrapped in the arms of her father and Mrytle found herself wishing that could be her and Olive. her parents spotted her and waved her over with warm smiles. Mrytle grinned and ran straight into their arms, sinking into their warmth and love.

the small family made their way home, having loud joyful conversations about their time apart. Myrtle found herself wanting to tell them about Olive but she decided that she wanted to keep it to herself, something that was just hers for now.

and so the small family spent their holiday decorating the house for christmas and baking so many sweets that they would need to see a dentist afterwards. if someone were to walk by and look in through the window, they would see laughter and smiles gracing everyone's face. except for in the late hours of the nights when Myrtle found her self climbing onto the roof to look at the stars and wishing she could be with her love.

when winter holidays ended and the students went back to Hogwarts, Olive found herself excited to finally see Mrytle again. she had spent her holiday waiting and wishing for this day to come. oh how she had missed her love. they way she had felt in her arms, the way her lips felt against Myrtle's.

the months went on and the stars continued to watch as the pair fell more and more in love, sharing kisses and declaration. they watched as the two girls continued blissfully unaware of the tragic end to their love, as it slowly crept closer and closer. until finally that day came.

it had just been like every other day, a regular tuesday. the two girls had spent the night before, in eachother's loving embrace whispering their love for the other like it was some secret jst between them. becasue it was. no one else ever knew about the love they shared and they nver would for as fate would have it, today would be Mrytles last living day on earth.

Myrtle and Olive had shared smiles across the great hall that morning at breakfast and even shared a few secretive kisses in small alcoves in between classes. lunch had just ended and the third year ravenclaws and slytherins were making their way to charms class. Mrytle left the hall before Olive did, hoping that Olive would follow her so they could have a few minutes together before class.

the thing is that Olive did follow her, but she was not alone. she had her group of friends with her. Olive remained quiet, listening as her friends went on and on about Tom Riddle. Mrytle looked over her shoulder with a smile on her face and saw Olive behind, but her smile dropped when she saw who was with her. Mrytle dropped her head and pulled her books closer to her chest in the hopes that she wouldn't get spotted, but how would this story progress if she was left alone?

One of Olive's friends, Diana, spotted Myrtle and nudged Olive with a smirk on her face. the rest of the friend group was alerted and they all stalked over to Mrytle. Diana knocked her books to the ground before sending Mrytle down with them.

"watch it freak. I don't need you dirtying my clothes." she snarled.

Mrytle looked up at olive, pleading with her eyes for some help, as the rest of the girls continued to bully her.

"Guys, we're going to be late. come on leave her alone."

"you don't actually care about her do you?" Diana asked, turning to Olive.

Olive looked back at Mrytle, seeing as the tears welled up in her eyes the longer Olive hesitated.

Olive looked back at Diana, noticeing her friend group were all staring at her waiting for an answer.

" no of course not. she's just some ugly freak with disgusting glasses." it pained her to say those words and to hear herself saying them but her self preservation instincts took over. then she heard it. the loud sob that came from Myrtle. Olive looked down to see Mrytle standing up with tears streaming down her face with no signs of stopping.

before she could even get a word out, myrtle took off running down the hall towards the girls lavatory. Diana and her friends walked away towards charms, their laughter filling the hall. Olive went to chase after Myrtle but Diana called her come to class. so Olive went to charms and sat counting the minutes until it was over so she could go see Mrytle. Olive only hoped that she would still be in the lavatory or it would be alot harder to find her.

be careful what you wish for.

Meanwhile in the lavatory, the sounds of large heartbroken sobs could be heard echoing off the walls. Mrytle sat in the stall at the far end of the room, wondering if it had all been a lie. if the girl she loved truely loved her back. her sobs only turned to soft sniffles when she heard the door open. she tried to remain quiet hoping to remain unknown until the person left, but then she heard them mumble something. it sounded like a man! men weren't supposed to be in here! so the used her sleeve to dry off her tears and opened the stall door, ready to tell off the man for being in a girls lavatory but when the door opened all she saw was a pair a huge yellow serpent-like eyes. that was the last thing she saw before her world went black. all Mrytle could think was that she wished she could have seen her love one last time.

that was how Mrytle Wallen died, heartbroken and alone. wishing she could have had more time with her love.

Olive was the first one to find her. she walked along the empty halls, the only other person being Tom Riddle. she passed by him and pushed open the lavatory door. at first she thought it was empty since it was quiet, but she saw something in the corner of her eye that almost made her heart stop. her love, her Mrytle was laying there on the cold dirty ground, not moving, not breathing. Olive rushed over to her praying to the stars above that she was mistaken that this couldn't be happening. but the stars could not help, for they had seen this coming from the begining.

Olive sat at the side of her love, crying over their lost future with one another. wishing that she could fix it. Olive knew that it was her fault. if she hadn't said those cruel things to her or if she had stuck up for her instead of insulting her. oh how the thought of her last words to her love her being something so mean and untrue, broke her heart even more.

hours must have passed, but it only felt like minutes to Olive. a seventh year hufflepuff had walked in and found Olive crying over another students body. they had run to get a professor and the headmaster. they had come running, only stopping a moment when they laid eyes on the heartbreaking scene. the headmaster, gently placed a hand on Olive's shoudler, carefully prying her away from her soulmate's unmoving body.

Myrtle's body had been carried to the hosptial wing, olive followed as if on autopilot. she was sat down on one of the beds and Myrtle's parents were contacted. Ministry workers had showed up and tried to ask her questions about what happened but Olive remained unresponsive. at one point Olive noticed that, who she assumed to be Mrytle's parents, showed up. both of them were in tears but at the sight of their daughter's body laying unmoving they had dropped to their knees, no longer able to support themselves.

when olive went to bed that night , she laid awake staring at the ceiling unable to fall asleep. she blamed herself for what happened. she closed her eyes as she felt the tears begin to form. shen she turned over to lay on her side, she almost yelled in shock, for her love was standing right beside her bed. at first she was filled with so much happiness that she almost smiled. it was all a horrible nightmare! my love is still alive and I will still get to hold her, and kiss her, and tell her how much I lover her!

but it wasn't a dream. it had happend and it was only the ghost form of her lover that was stood in front of her now. she could no longer hold her, or kiss her, she could tell her she loved her but it wouldn't matter now. not when she was no longer living.

"love?" Olive whispered.

Myrtle almost smiled at her, happy to see her love one more time, but then she remembered why she was in that lavatory in the first place and her face morphed into anger.

"you don't get to call me that! did you ever really love me? because i loved you. with all my heart. ever since i saw you in first year. you were all I could think about. I would pray for the day that you would actually look at me. and that day came, we made eye contact and then you came up to me in the library that day and everything changed. But apparently not everything."

Olive had tears down her face by the time Myrtle had finished.

"I did love you. I loved you more than you could know. and I'm sorry."

"sorry won't bring me back Olive."

" I know." olive whispered.

Mrytle continued to show up around Olive everytime she was alone. she reminded her why she was dead, how it was all Olive's fault. Olive never knew a moment of peace after that day. Her friends noticed her behavior and tried to figure out what happened, but olive shit them out. Her grade began to drop, and she no longer talked to any of her friends, instead choosing to remain silent or miss meals all together.

Olive finished her years at Hogwarts and when she graduated, all she could think about was how she will never see her true love again. she got a job at the ministry and got married to one of her coworkers. they had children and olive grew old. as the years passed she began to think less and less of her first love.

on the day that Olive died, she was old and had shared her love with her husband and their children. she had a good life and she was greatful to have gotten a second chance at finding and experienceing love. Olive passed in her sleep with a smile on her face. she was dreaming of the late nights she had spent with Myrtle in the astronomy tower and all the kisses she shared.

when she opened her eyes she was met face to face with her soul mate. Myrtle was standing right in front of her, like she was waiting, just like Olive would wait for her all those years ago. they smiled at eachother, and they both moved on to finally live with the one they were destined for.

the stars smiled up at them, happy to see the greatest but most tragic love story finally come to an end. and the moon, who had been rooting for the pair since the begining cried with joy, sending droplets of moonlight down into the world.
