It was a cold night when the Nuns and Halo Bearer went to sleep, followed by a rainy morning. As usual, Ava was the last one to wake up, so when she did, everyone was already eating breakfast; she walked to the table and sat next to Camila, eyes still half closed, not fully awake, Yasmine was nice and had served Ava breakfast before the short girl sat, Ava looked at the plate in front of her and slowly started to eat, at some point she rested her head on Camila's shoulder, falling asleep for a few minutes until she heard Beatrice's voice and immediately sat up. She was about to keep eating until she heard a sentence that made her look to Beatrice.
"It's raining" said the Nun to Mother Superion as they walked to the office to talk about private matters, Ava quickly turned to Camila with enthusiasm, the short haired girl simply stared back at her, a little confused. "It's raining?" the young girl asked, bouncing her leg up and down full of energy, Camila drank a little juice before looking back at Ava, "Yeah, that's why we will have to train inside today, why do you ask?", the Halo Bearer didn't even bothered to finish eating before she quickly tied her shoelaces properly and got up, drawing Mary's attention to her.
"Ava sit down and finish eating" said Mary, not looking up but knowing Ava was up to something, she kept eating calmly until a few seconds without an answer went by, she then got up and forced the young woman to sit down, which was useless, because as soon as Mary walked a few feet away, Ava quickly got up again and ran towards the door, not even stopping to open it, instead she phased through it, smiling as soon as she felt the drops on her body. After a few minutes the Halo Bearer heard the door opening, seeing Camila and Yasmine standing next to it, she walks to the girls and grabs Camila's hand, leading into the rain, they start to spin around, both laughing; Ava looks at Yasmine and reaches her hand out, Yasmine giving in and following them , now the three of them spinning and laughing.
The girls stop spinning as soon as they see Beatrice and Mary standing on the door, but all it takes for Beatrice to follow them is Ava grabbing her hand slowly while smiling at her. Beatrice follows her lover with a smile, which she quickly regrets, she stays still watching the other girls jumping around and laughing; the next one to get in the rain is Mary, she stands next to Beatrice and without saying anything she giver her the jacket she was wearing, the taller girl putting it on quickly since it was starting to get cold. Mary walks close to Ava and waits until she's spinning to set her foot next to the young girl's feet, making the girl fall. "What the fuck was that for?", Ava asks a little annoyed.
"You don't know playing in the rain is dangerous?", asks Mary back, reaching her hand out for Ava to grab, which she does, but before standing up, Ava pulls her arm, causing Mary to fall next to her. A loud laugh can be heard from the door, all of them look up to see Lilith laughing hysterically, while Mother Superion is standing behind her, a tired look on her face; Ava simply flips her before standing up and helping Mary, Lilith keeps laughing as she walks towards all of them, without wasting a second, Mary quickly grabs Lilith and spins her salsa style, making Ava chuckle before walking to Beatrice and grabbing her hands to also dance.
Meanwhile, Camila just looks at them with excitement, with her phone out already, starting to record the whole scene, on one side, Ava and Beatrice slow dancing calmly, like the world around them doesn't exist, on the other side, Mary and Lilith are "dancing", they're basically fighting in a dance way. Not too long after that, Mother Superion joins them with an umbrella to not get wet, she holds Camila's phone when the short haired girl hands it to her, still recording, as she jumps on poodles, Ava quickly following her, jumping excited.
To Ava, all of this is new, sometimes, the Nuns forget she hasn't lived a lot yet, which is why they let her do stuff; but they also want to live with Ava, which is why they sometimes join in whatever activity Ava is doing, from watching the stuff like having game nights, to simple moments in life, like watching the stars, or the sundown, and now, dancing and playing in the rain. Mother Superion doesn't know how Ava feels exactly, but she can imagine it's still too much for the young girl, having to leave your life and dreams, which you just got back after 12 years of nothing, just because life isn't fair sometimes, because she has a responsibility no one ever prepared her for, and yet, she's here, living for what could be her last moments like this.
Even if she doesn't say it out loud, the once Halo Bearer is proud of her girl, proud and scared, scared of losing her; it's well know that Nuns can't do or have certain stuff, like romantic relationships, or children, it can be considered a sin in some people's mind, but Mother Superion loves all these girls like they're her daughter, she looks at them and sees a family, her family, her girls. She knows that God won't mind it, after all, God is love, and all Mother Superion feels when she looks at her girls, is love. Most of the time, she sometimes feels annoyed when Mary and Lilith argue, or when Camila, Yasmine and Ava plan on doing something dumb, and of course she feels worried about all of them, but besides that normal mom feelings, she mostly feels proud of them, when she sees them take down 10 men each one without problem, and she feels happy every time she sees them smile.
Mother Superion loved the girls, her girls, Ava walked to her, noticing a tear on the corner of her eye, which immediately made the short girl worry, but she calmed down as soon as she saw the older woman smile, without saying anything, Mother Superion handed the phone to Yasmine before hugging Ava tightly, the young woman didn't know how to react for a few seconds, but she finally hugged her back.
"You okay mom? I mean, uh, Mother?" Ava asked when they pulled apart, Mother Superion simply grabbed Ava's cheek with love and smiled. "Mom is okay Ava" she answered without thinking, this just made the girl smile happily, she took her (now mom) hand and pulled her to join the other girls who were still in the rain, Mary and Lilith were now laying on the floor, apparently Lilith fell pulling Mary down in the process and they decided to stay on the floor, Camila and Beatrice were jumping on some poodles, and Yasmine was still holding the phone, still recording, she was too focused on the rain to notice, Ava and Mother Superion started to dance, making the old woman laugh without holding back, making everyone around them smile at the view. They stayed in the rain more time, and of course Yasmine, Lilith and Camila got sick after that, but they didn't really care, they were happy because of the moment they all lived.
This just proves that they're a family.
