Chapter 2 - WandaVision

Once upon a time, Grant Douglas Ward was just sitting beneath a sycamore tree, looking at noth-ing in particular…or maybe the local stream, most likely.

“Well, aren’t you just fun!” Kara Lynn Palamas, his partner in crime, (among other things), said conversationally.

Grant Ward thought this over thoughtfully, thoroughly, reached out to the woman in question and gave her a great big hug, (of a non-sexual nature, for now).

“…Ok,” Kara said conversationally, as she began to resist, (playfully), and again it was estab-lished that when it came to direct hand to hand, Ward was the better ex-agent out of the two. “This is escalating quickly-“ she continued to comment, as Ward sort of toppled backwards, rais-ing Kara upwards, with a very specific look upon his face. “Baby! Who do you think I am?”

Ward shot her a very pointed look.

“Ok, let me refresh- I mean, rephrase this. Do I look like Daisy-Skye Johnson?”

“No,” Ward readily agreed, “and in no small part because Quake is doing… who was she paired with, at the series’ end?”

“Daniel Sousa, these days,” Kara half-slid out of Ward’s grasp…and began to straddle him in-stead.

(“Ribbit!” went the nearby frogs. The nearby crabs said nothing instead.)

“Precisely!” Ward nodded solemnly as he gazed upwards at Kara, (and nuzzled her cleavage, but Kara did not mind, cough). “Please excuse me, but a man got to have some pride in his life, plus the TV canon has spoken, eh?”

“Hey, AoS may always get a reboot!” Kara said brightly. Ward shot her a look. “Yes, as villains, or, at best, morally ambiguous characters, we probably won’t be around there for too long either. Still, got to be optimistic-“

“I’ve no qualms about that,” Ward nodded, even as he thumped the local sycamore, hard. “But you, on the other hand-“

“Come on!” the tree shimmered and morphed into Agatha Harkness. “Can’t a witch voyeur peacefully here?”

“What are you doing here?” Kara asked, smiling a bit too sharply to be truly friendly – she was not always on boards with voyeurs. “Your show isn’t finished yet-“

“According to the big shot Disney producers, it might be,” Agatha said with a surprising bitter-ness. “And if that happens, what a witch to do? I’m a newcomer in the MCU, a back story or no, so once the final episode of WV airs, I might as well be dead in the common?”

“There’s going to be a movie-“

“There’s always going to be a movie, and a villain to feature in it,” Agatha did not back down. “It probably won’t be me. I was actually angling to be some sort of a tough-love mentor instead, but ended up being a pesky trickster instead.”

“Well, the song is catchy, but I do have issues with dogs and dog killings,” Ward said sourly.

“Ah yes, Hydra was big on killing the dogs in the canon…but this isn’t the canon anymore, is it?” Agatha said softly. Ward looked her right in the eyes, and whatever passed between them in that moment was enough for Agatha to back away – slightly. “You know, I can always turn you two into tree frogs or something,” she said bravely. “I am a witch, you know!”

“We know,” Ward and Palamas echoed. “And until your show is done, for the season or for good, you’re still over there…primarily…”

“But once it is done, can I come over here… at least sometimes… us morally ambiguous characters got to look out for each other…”

“You’re good,” Ward and Kara exchanged cryptic looks, (and not necessarily in a good way), “but you’re not wrong either. You can stay!”

Agatha grinned and pulled out her witch’s broomstick out of nowhere, looking authentically happy for the first time since their encounter. Up above, the sycamores’ green leaves were fluttering in the air, and frogs were doing their ‘ribbit’ song in the local meandering waters…
