The Wedding (Lafcadio Boone x Reginald Sixpence)
Lafcadio was nervous as he made his way to the wedding of his friend Lucas and his new bride Eleanor. It was a strange feeling, being surrounded by so many people, some of whom he didn't know at all. He wasn't particularly social, and he had never really been one for big events like weddings.
But he was happy for Lucas, who had finally found someone he loved enough to settle down with. He knew that Eleanor was a wonderful woman who would be a great partner for his friend. And, if he was being honest with himself, Lafcadio was looking forward to the open bar.
As he made his way through the crowd, he spotted a man who caught his eye. He was tall and handsome, with a mop of curly hair and a mischievous grin on his face. Lafcadio couldn't help but stare, even as the man caught his eye and made his way over.
"Hey there," the man said, holding out his hand. "I'm Reginald. You must be one of Lucas's friends."
"Lafcadio," he replied, shaking Reginald's hand. "Nice to meet you."
They struck up a conversation, and Lafcadio found that he actually enjoyed talking to Reginald. He was charming and funny, and he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know Lafcadio. They talked about all sorts of things, from music to travel to the latest inventions.
As the night wore on, they found themselves gravitating towards each other more and more. They danced together, laughed together, and even snuck out to the gardens for a smoke break. Lafcadio felt something stir within him, a sense of connection that he hadn't felt in a long time.
It wasn't until the wedding was winding down that Reginald finally made a move. He pulled Lafcadio aside and leaned in, pressing his lips to Lafcadio's in a soft, tentative kiss.
Lafcadio was taken aback, but he didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned in, deepening the kiss and wrapping his arms around Reginald's neck. It was like something inside of him had been unlocked, and he couldn't resist the pull he felt towards this man.
From that moment on, they were inseparable. They spent the rest of the night together, holding hands and stealing kisses whenever they could. And when Lafcadio had to leave, Reginald walked him to his car, pressing one last kiss to his lips before saying goodnight.
They exchanged numbers and started texting each other constantly. They went on dates, exploring the city and discovering new restaurants and bars. And, little by little, they began to fall in love.
It wasn't easy, of course. They came from very different worlds, with Reginald being the heir to a wealthy family and Lafcadio being a rather poor priest. But they made it work, finding common ground in their shared love of music, art, and their children.
As they grew closer, they started to talk about their families. Reginald had always felt like an outsider in his own family, never quite fitting in with the expectations that had been placed on him. Lafcadio had never really had a family to speak of, having grown up in foster care.
But they found a kind of family in each other. They moved in together, creating a home filled with their shared interests and passions. They took care of each other, supporting each other through the tough times and celebrating the good ones.
And when Lucas and Eleanor welcomed their first child into the world, they were there, beaming with pride as they held the tiny bundle of joy. They realised that they didn't need a traditional family to be happy. They had each other.
