Chapter 1
The air in the main conference room of the Avengers Tower was tense as the small group waited for Nick Fury and his guest to arrive. Steve Rogers was tapping the table with his right hand, trying to stay calm and not think about what will happen to his friend, Bucky, if Nick Fury doesn’t arrive with the promised alpha soon. Tony and Bruce were trying to keep busy with their tablets but failing miserably. They weren’t as close to Bucky as Steve but they grow to like the guy in the last few months they spent together, he was a part of their team now. Also even thinking about the situation he, a fellow omega, was in was enough to make them shiver. Also the situation and the guest was going to effect them too. Tony couldn’t take more of the tense silence with Steve’s tapping any more.
“ Jarvis, how long untill nick arrives and what is taking him so long?”
“ Director Nick Fury’s helicopter will land on time, 5 minutes later, Mr Stark.”
“ And what do we know about the guest apha he is bringing?”
This question made both Steve and Bruce to look up to the screens as the photos and records of the brunette woman filled them as Jarvis started to speak.
“Dr. Elizabeth Grace Hall 28 years old, alpha and not mated as you already know. Level 5 mutant with telekinesis powers. Graduated from Medical School of University of California. She has been working on different research projects funded by different divisions of government including military and shield. Major focus of her research projets are genetics and bioengineering focusing on the mutant gene.”
The woman had medium tan skin with black hair and dark brown eyes. She was not tall, 5’ 4 acording to the documents. In the photos taken from her social media accounts she was smiling widely contrasting the ones from the official papers where she looked serious and stern.
“Well, at least she looks hot. Do we have any idea why Nick Fury is bringing her for the omega crisis or to alpha the avengers?” asked Tony.
“ From the files I can gain access to, Dr. Hall has been fully trained by Shield in the use of her telekinesis powers and had been to some missions, mostly to recover other mutants with unknown powers who might need medical attention immediately. Nothing on the alpha part, sir. However there are some mission files that a highly classified.”
“Come on Jarvis, hack them already.”
“Not now. Jarvis clear the screens and alert us when they arrive.” Tony looked questioningly to Bruce.
“What? Don’t you want to learn about her?”
“I do, but not when she is about to arrive. Jarvis, how is Bucky doing?”
“Sergeant Barnes, is going into critical condition.The suppressants are still not effective due to his fast metabolism. He broke the hand of the last alpha who tried to get in to his room so he is now alone in the heat chamber.”
Bucky had been recovering from everything hydra did to him. It wasn’t a wild guess to think that hydra didn’t cared for him or his heat cycle. But there was no hormonal anomaly in his test results when steve brought him back so nobody was expecting him to either go into heat with no signal before hand or turn this violent against everyone including alphas. Sure, violent behavior in omegas during heat was very rare but not completely unheard of, but it was always towards other omegas and betas. However, Bucky had attacked all 4 of the alphas who tried to dominate him in the last hour. And considering the fact that he was a super soldier, they had no chance against him.
“ Do we have an update on where is Natasha?” Steve really wished the russian assasin to be there. She was the only alpha in the Avengers and even though she was mated with Clint, Steve really believed that she could have help Bucky.
“I am afraid we don’t, Captain. Both Agent Romanov and Borton are not responding and considering the nature of their mission it is most likely that they won’t be responding in the next 24 hours.”
Steve already know that those two were in an undercover mission thousands of miles away but he didn’t help but hope. He knew from the first hand experience how much it hurts to spend a heat without suppressants or an alpha and in Bucky’s conditions with his level of agressiveness and super strength there is no way Bucky can survive his heat without doing a lot of harm to himself. Steve really want to be with his friend, at least try to stop him from hurting himself but Fury ordered him not to go in. He listened just because Fury said he will bring an alpha that can help Bucky so much more than Steve, but if this doesn’t work Steve will go in. At least tie Bucky down, get the doctors to put a toy or something in him and give him the most powerfull sedatives.
“Don’t worry Cap. Fury always knows what he is doing and if he is sure she can help Buck, I am sure she can.” Bruce spoke trying to comfort his friend. Before Steve can answer, Jarvis spoke.
“The helicopter just landed. Director Fury and Dr Hall are heading towards you as we speak.”
Three avengers got up and headed towards roof top. They met with Fury and Dr. Hall halfway. After quick hand shakes Fury asked.
“Let’s not waste time with introductions and head towards Sergeant Banes. How is he doing?”
Steve answered as they headed towards the modified heat chamber Bucky was in.
“Not good. He attacked the last alpha that tried to get in and broke his arm. Suppressants still not working.”
All three men eyed the woman instinctively, they were looking to see how she was going to react to these news but she continued walking not effected at all. Fury continued.
“ Don’t worry. If someone can help Sergeant Barnes, it is Dr Hall.” Dr Hall turned her gaze towards the man.
“I am guessing he is in a stocked heat chamber.” This time Stark answered.
“Yes, the heat chamber has everything you may need and more with the newest technology and the best products. Also all the restraints are modified so they can stand to super soldier strenght.”
“Good.”
The alpha tone she used caused Tony to exhile sharply. That was hot, very hot. And she probably did it without trying to. He couldn’t help but think all the things she can do to him in one of these rooms. Maybe this adding and alpha to the team idea wasn’t that bad after all.
The group stop when they came in front of the Bucky’s room. Jarvis projected the live camera feed to the screens. Bucky was curled up whimpering in a corner.
“Anything else you need Lizzie?” asked Fury. She answered as she pulled her long wavy hair to a bun.
“I would really like if you turn off the cameras.” She answered the question in the avengers eyes before they could put it to words.
“Don’t worry Sergeant Barnes can’t hurt me and I will let you know when he is doing better.”
The men nodded and Stark got Jarvis to turn off the cameras. Lizzie took of her high heels. Tony spoke as she finished getting ready.
“The code of the door is 314159. I can change it for you.”
“No need.”
She got her bag from the floor near her shoes. She was ready to get in. When she looked up she saw Steve’s confused and worried look as he mumbled a ‘What?’ Both Bruce and Lizzie answered at the same time.
“It’s the first 6 digits of pi.”
Steve nodded still looking confused and very worried.
“Don’t worry Captain, I will do my best to help your friend. He is going to be okay. I am ready to go in and don’t worry I will let you know his condition when he is doing better.”
Lizzie smiled reassuringly as she typed the numbers and got into the room.
The four men stared the door Lizzie closed after her for a few moments like they are waiting to hear something, but the room was soundproof and they knew it.
“Dr. Hall is going to help him, he is going to be ok.”
Fury said as he gestured them to go back. Waiting in front of the room won’t do any good to anyone. Tony started to speak as they rentered the conference room.
“What is so special about her, director? Also what did you exactly mean when you said you were thinking about asking her to join the avengers?”
“To answer your first question, she had been in a similar, very challenging situations as an alpha before and did very well.”
“Similar? If Steve didn’t have a heat like this I don’t think we can call it similar.”
“By similar I meant a situation with agressive omegas in heat. The super soldier part won’t make much difference considaring Dr. Hall is a very powerful mutant.”
“What you mean, director?” This time it was Bruce talking.
“Oh, you don’t know. I guessed that Mr. Stark had already hacked the military files but apperantly he didn’t.”
“We didn’t have much time and Bruce here didn’t want to get caught reading them.”
“A couple of years earlier, before the avengers, Dr Hall was a part of a highly classified military mission. The mission was in Alaska, North Pole region. For protection and assistance military set a temporary base to the region with about 1,500 soldiers.”
“What? Why would they need that many soldiers? Also isn’t she a medical doctor what research was she doing in north pole?”
“The research was about genetics, different gene’s effect on resistance to harsh conditions and the soldiers were also being trained there. Military was doing a two birds one stone deal there. However the weather wasn’t as good as they planned. A storm destroyed some buildings and killed some people. Fortunately places like the main living area, power generators and food storage was unharmed. But the satellite was destroyed cutting the communication, also the medical building was destroyed with all the suppressants gone and killing other two alphas there besides Dr. Hall.”
All three men looked at Fury with shock. It was a disaster situation . A tone of omega in a closed environment with no suppressants and not enough alpha to care for them. There were some incidents like this one in history, which all end with omegas going very agressive and duelling each other to death.
“Do I need to add that about three quarters of the soldiers were omegas and there were no heat chambers and only one prison cell. Anyways, it took two months to weather to go back to normal so military can go back and save them. But lucky for all of them Elizabeth was there.”
Steve tought about it in sarrow, it must have been like hell for all those omegas. If you add the freezing cold to the equation, he was comfortable leaving his friend’s care for the woman if she was able to save half of those soldiers. He asked in a dark tone.
“How many of them survived?”
“All of them.”
“What?” “How?” The questions fly through the room as Nick continued to explain.
“Dr. Hall took charge there as soon as they noticed the situation. She created some space for the omegas in heat and she was able to look after and comfort all of them. All the omegas submit to her nobody attacked or harmed another.”
“That can’t be possible. There were suppose to be about what, 30 omegas in heat each day.”
“Yes, Mr Stark something like that and she took care of all of them.”
Fury gave the avengers some time to process what they learnt. He continued after a few moments of silence.
“I am suprised you didn’t heard of it or find it online. She got very famous among the politicians and high rank military agents since Russia got alerted to the rescue mission, apperantly it was very close to their border and the matter got transfered into The UN.”
“Like I said, no time.”
“This is one of the reason, for her to join the Avengers.”
“Meaning?”
“First of all, let me be clear she is a level 5 mutant, that alone is enogh reason for her to join you. She has basic training and full use of her powers. In addition, some people are worried about there being 4 unmated, single omega in the avengers. I am not telling, you have to spent your heat with her or anything it is nobodies bussines but you can and having an unmated alpha can be very useful in situations like today. Also, some parts of the world and america too, growing worried about how much they can trust The Avengers and an addition like Dr Hall will make them stop, since like I said she is very famous about being an incredible alpha and mutant.”
“So, they don’t think we are good or trust worthy enough. All those alphas in the UN and in the senate, they still think they are better then us? Where were they while we saved the world over and over?”
“To be honest Mr Stark yes. With the latest incidents with Bucky, world leaders including our own is worried and they want to add a powerful alpha in. Let me rephrase it, they are adding a powerful alpha to the team and trust me when I say Dr Hall is the by far your best option. People like General Ross is in the list. Any of those alphas on the list would boss you around and make it a living hell for you if you don’t act as they want, except for her. So get to know her a bit, give it a chance. She doesn’t even know about this. ”
Before leaving the room Fury added.
“Also consider the fact that she dropped everything and come to help Sergeant Barnes. She is a good human being before everything, she is caring and selfless and a very good team player. Also aren’t you tired of spending your heat with strangers. Don’t you think having someone who you can trust, someone who won’t be either afraid of you or try to dominate you with as much force as possible because they are threatened your position as an avenger will be good. So give her a chance and I would like to offer her the position with all of you, after Barnes is out of the heat.”
After an hour of hacking the possible candidates list and arguing about wheather or not the government can tell them what to do, one thing they were all sure of was that she was really by far the best candidate. Jarvis cut their conversation.
“Dr Hall is calling.”
“Answer the call.”
“Hello, Dr Hall? Is everything ok?” Steve spoke with worry in his voice.
“Yes, I am calling to tell you that we are both fine. There is nothing to worry. Bucky is doing a lot better, aren’t you dear?
"Yes, I am. Guys, sorry for scaring you like that and thanks for sending in an angel. We are fine, ok. Now leave us alone."
Dr. Hall chuckled and continued.
"Yeah, we are fine, so no worries... See you later."
After the sound of line closing, the three men looked at each other. Tony was first one to comment.
“Well, Bucky sounded like he was enjoying himself a lot, lucky bastard. I want her for my next heat too.”
