i don’t count the hours i spend with you, time just passes by
Freen yawned; another day spent working hard. Her body didn’t appreciate this past week, as she felt weak and hungry. But she had bills to pay, and she had her eye on a dress. After much instagram browsing, she found dream Becky’s dress miraculously on a quaint shop account. She felt a bit smug because she planned for this piece to only be seen by her eyes. She was eager to spend time with Becky after their work was done, providing nothing popped up, as their popularity was exploding.
Although, the younger woman seemed to be busy, as she had ran past Freen with an apology and a promise of a text. So her heart felt a tad downtrodden, but the anticipation of seeing Becky in that dress motivated her to drive back home. She would probably do a live after a shower. The day’s grime needed to be washed away, and chatting with her fans seemed to drive that fatigue away, knowing her hard work was being well acknowledged and received.

Becky sent her a text after she finished her live: ‘ill make it up to you tomorrow? kisses 😇 good night babe’ Freen stared at one particular part and stroked her chin. Becky needed to stop flirting with her, though she did like it. Sometimes she wondered what went through her angel’s head. The younger woman sent her reeling from some previous texts and selfies she has seen and read. Some selfies she saved into her phone’s gallery, not that she’d ever tell Becky. ‘go somewhere with me tomorrow then angel.’ Freen smiled and then laughed to herself after sending that text. She laid down on her bed, self satisfied. She leaned over to spray her perfume; tonight’s choice was honestly anything that was within reach. Freen was not keen on leaving a bed unless it was nature’s call.

“Oh no, she’s giggling to herself.” Nam whispered to herself, intent on teasing her dear friend. “They’re probably texting each other. They’re still in the same building. Not miles away.” Heng sighed loudly.
“Shipper.” Freen pointed at them, then made a shooing gesture. Nam and the others must’ve had other things to do besides bugging her. Becky was making it up to her slowly over these texts and stickers she sent in the chat. How cute. Freen wanted to hug the girl right now, but Becky was doing something at the moment.
Nam plopped beside her on the couch, and leaned into her to peek at the phone. Freen groaned; she just wanted a bit of privacy. Her chats with Becky were quite fulfilling in her everyday life when certain nosy people weren’t peeping.
“Becky is asking for kisses and hugs?” Nam chortled.
Curse her acuity. Freen pouted. “So what? She’s my baby. If she wants a hug, or a kiss on the cheek,” she glared pointedly at her friend, “she’ll get them.” She crossed her arms over her chest and slumped. They’ve been quite busy, with little to no time to attend to their countdown of hugs much. They would get to those sometime, just not when work was piling up on them.
“Had anyone told you how head over heels you are for her?” Nam interrupted.
She kept her silence, deigning to ignore them for now and turned her phone screen on to see if Becky sent any more texts.
‘Where are we going after work? Your place? Art gallery? Massage? Your mom warned me to stay away from your place.’ She could imagine the little smile Becky had on her face when she wrote this. Freen licked her bottom lip, smirking at the obvious ruse. Becky has been in her room plenty of times, nothing noteworthy has happened yet.
‘You want to go back to my room that badly? I can take you.’ Freen forgot about Nam being beside her. The other woman gasped.
“She’s flirting with Becky!” Nam told Heng who laughed, the few other people in the room looked at them for a bit before carrying on with their duties.
Freen’s head shot up, her expression was a little off as she blushed. She stood up and walked away. The giggles from the duo were irking her slightly. She could flirt back, she wasn’t afraid of a little good-hearted flirting with a friend, who was more than a friend yet less than a lover. Her soulmate? She vaguely mused.
They’ve done all they needed to for the series, so what if she could relieve a little stress from flirting? Becky was beautiful, she knew that, told her everyday. Freen knew she shouldn’t be doing this, but she also knew her heart was slowly falling into Becky’s hands.
The feelings were there so she wasn’t going to rush it. Freen liked the idea of slow romance. Letting the tension build, having that frisson of electricity shoot through her every time their eyes met, it was addicting. Freen suppressed the shiver that wanted to explode at the base of her spine, now was not the time to be turned on in the middle of her workplace.
Her composure returned to normal and she decided to push aside the thought of romance for another time, more work was waiting for her.
———
“Where are we heading to?” Becky buckled in and turned her head towards Freen, those sparkling eyes drew her in like magnets. Freen had to grip the steering wheel to remind herself she had places to drive Becky to and less about driving Becky crazy in other ways.
Starting the engine and pulling out, she mentally checked the route and bit her lip. “Somewhere to relax.”
Freen knew it would be a good 45-minute drive, providing traffic wasn’t too heavy at this time. She wanted to take Becky to an area that wasn’t too affected by light pollution, watch the sunset and spot stars. It wasn’t the beach but she hoped Becky loved it. She was going to try her hand at romancing her.
Becky sighed and replied, “As long as it’s anywhere with you.” Becky caressed her hand briefly.
Freen gave a small smile and grunted. She didn’t want to get into a car accident with Becky, so she focused on the road. Thankfully, they spent the time talking and listening to music here and there. Before long, they arrived at their destination.
Freen went to the other side to help Becky out the car. In her arms, she carried a small blanket and some seaweed snacks. “Becky, let’s gaze at the stars.” The older thai woman stared directly into the younger woman’s eyes and smirked at the awed expression.
She led Becky to a small open area and they sat down. She patted the space beside her and watched Becky kneel gracefully. Her heart pounded as the nerves came rushing back. Freen initially wanted this to be the place she asked Becky to be her girlfriend, but now doubts were creeping in. They were both so busy nowadays, did a serious relationship have a place in their life right now? She shook her head, she knew what her heart and mind wanted. Becky was irreplaceable in her life.
She turned to the Thai-British woman and cleared her throat of the dryness. Her hands were trembling as she took in Becky’s beauty. With the faint stars above them and the ambiance of nature around them, it couldn’t feel any more right.
“Becky…” Freen waited for the younger woman to face her, then braved through the fear clinging to her tongue and asked, “will you be my girlfriend?”
